Well spotted. My quick analysis indicates - always pay in the default currency for single sectors. The default currency is based upon the country of departure.
If booking a return with UK origin to the Euro zone, the return leg conversion to GBP is almost the same as the interbank rate (it's actually a fraction cheaper in my test than booking two singles - only pence cheaper).

What I'm intrigued to find out is how they plan to operate this service as, I believe, the 8 based aircraft are fully utilised. The only way to free one up for the Birmingham route would be by switching another route to being operated from the other end, e-g either the first Stansted, Luton Gatwick or Belfast flights would be inbound to Edinburgh. Or, of course they could base a nineth aircraft and launch a swathe of new routes or increased frequencies.

In fairness, you do not need to be using peak slots on an EDI-based aircraft to fly an early morning departure to Krakow at 06:40 on Mon/Wed/Fri, Lisbon at 06:20 Tue/Thu, Seville on Monday mornings and Thursday afternoons (peak business travel times) or Copenhagen (a route bloodbath) on Monday at 07:15. Shovelling any or all of these services to off-peak times and perhaps relocating the Berlin and/or Geneva services off EDI aircraft onto TXL or GVA-based aircraft could easily create the gaps required for a business schedule on EDI-BHX within the existing eight aircraft. I would guess that the delay in announcing a schedule is due to awaiting confirmation of requested slot moves for other services to slot coordinated airports, which will only become apparent in the next few days as airlines receive the output of their slot requests for S20. I might be totally wrong, but that's the conclusion I get to.

Or they could open a base and originate the flight in BHX....and pigs might fly! 😁
One thing for sure, a wise move by EZY to enter the Scotland- BHX market as the future of the Flybe/Virgin Connect BHX base is far from certain in terms of routes that will continue in S20.

Looking at a Monday next summer, the EDI-based aircraft show as operating the same flights they operated this summer, although some there is some swapping from A319 to A320 and vice versa.
A new flight to VRN has been added during the middle of the day leaving BHX sized gaps morning and evening on an A320.

“UK budget carrier EasyJet has picked up several slots at London Gatwick and Bristol airports from the liquidators of collapsed leisure firm Thomas Cook Group.“

Pabely - how does 12 summer slot pairs at Gatwick translate to 6-8 extra aircraft. Would have thought more likely to be no more than about 4 (or max 6) new aircraft if we assume that an aircraft does maybe 3 round trips per day

Easyjet planes typically leave their base in the morning then fly 4/5 legs around europe before returning to base in the evening, not the typical in/out, in/out from it's own base.

Is that generally the case? From EDI every rotation is out and back. Being further north, the legs are longer and each plane does no more than three rotations, I think, and some only two.

Do they? Since when? I fly from a large base and not one aircraft disappears for the day and comes back in the evening, it's either 2 sector days or 4 sector days, out back, out back. BRS & LGW are no different. 6 slot pairs for BRS will be a maximum 2 aircraft and for 12 slot pairs it's a maximum of 4 aircraft, infact, 1 aircraft can do 8 departures per day so it could even be 1 for BRS and 2 for LGW.

There are some examples where the aircraft may not operate a LGW originating/arriving sector plus there are a handful of LGW crewed nightstops but generally, LGW aircraft will operate LGW flights.

in terms of leaving based and not coming back until the night this is generally untrue - normally it is there and back. There used to be some rostered patterns to increased crew hours and sectors so that they flew 3 sectors e.g
aircraft 1 - BFS - AGP - LGW - BFS with a BFS based crew.
aircraft 2 - LGW - AGP - BFS - LGW with a LGW based crew.
This was because from BFS it is very hard to roster 4 sectors to Europe due to crew operating hours however I am not sure if this happens anymore.
