Easyjet at 2135 Berlin TXL to London Gatwick was cancelled on Wednesday 28 August. Aircraft seems to have had an issue earlier in the cycle, it operated out early afternoon LGW-Geneva but hung up there for 4 hours before returning, and next cycle LGW-TXL-LGW was cancelled. Colleague was booked on it.
No advice from Easy for him by contact email (which they insist at booking is for contact in exactly such a circumstance), I just noticed the cancellation on the TXL departures, which at least saved going out to the airport.
But Easyjet customer service just airily said they would rebook on next available flight IN TWO DAYS TIME. Or refund and goodbye. No mention of how someone unable to return home at 9pm at night could now handle the situation. No mention of EU261. So we end up sorting it out ourselves, booking on BA and sorting a hotel. Called Easyjet back to discuss, only to find customer service has now closed for the night, apparently they finish at 8pm, which is surely when all the big hangups like this one are coming into play, let alone departures well after this.
And looking at the Easyjet fare, before you say "Low cost", it's not. This is a business travel route and they price accordingly.

All laid out here, if hotel not provided then reasonable expenses can be recovered for accommodation.

re-routing, under comparable transport conditions, to your final destination at the earliest opportunity;
I had a cancellation at Gatwick recently. Information provided was shocking, there were no alternative easyJet flights from any London airport until at least 24hrs later and those were quickly hoovered up.
Fortunately I didn’t play their ridiculous game. While everyone else on my flight got shouty, I booked onto BA out of Heathrow early the following morning and got home many hours faster than easyJet could have offered on their own services. Claim is still pending but my understanding is they will be required to reimburse the significant fare difference, my transport to Heathrow and my overnight accommodation.

I was a victim of the power outage at Manchester earlier in the year and as a consequence my flight from Manchester was cancelled on a Sunday evening. I have to say Menzies in Prague were no use, I booked my own hotel and flight the following day via Brussels back home.
I submitted a claim for the flight and the hotel on the Tuesday and the money was in the bank from Easyjet on Friday of the same week.

Looks like a MAN-BSL A319 diverted into Paris last night with technical issues. A quick aircraft change in Paris & arrival in Basel a couple of hours late, that's pretty good. The return flight however is running about 16 hours late though.
Nothing on Aviation Herald yet on the technical difficulties encountered.

Have easyjet released their full winter 19/20 and summer 20 season yet? I use the Flybe MAN-TLS flight very often as do a lot of my airbus colleagues the load factor on these flights always seems high. As the route is being dropped from next month and therefore no other competition, I thought it would be ideal for Easy to pick up...? Although they already have a base at TLS as well so maybe using a TLS based aircraft...here's hoping anyway

BHX-EDI & Amsterdam
And the wait goes on? Anyone with ideas of the reason for the delay?
Also the initial Amsterdam summer slot application deadline was listed as 3rd October and did easyjet apply to use the Flybe BHX-AMS slots which are up for grabs?
Also is there any link between the two questions above other than the obvious?
Pete

As some will have noticed, Easyjet no longer charge an admin fee (was about £16) per booking
As far as I can recall, if one wanted to pay in a currency other than that of the originating airport (e.g. if you want to buy a ticket from Milan to Paris in GBP instead of EUR), then Easyjet used to apply interbank wholesale rates - and didn't charge a mark-up. It seems that Easyjet have changed the policy, and are now adopting that of Ryanair - i.e. charging extra (seems to be about 3.5 % commission) for paying in a currency other than the suggested one
