Slightly old news, as it has since come to light that NWI won't even start.
Yes, Flybe will not fly from NQY to GLA, NCL, LPL or DSA this Summer as they did last year (and Logan have stepped in on 2 of those), but they are growing flights to MAN and EDI compared to previous years ops. That suggests that they are focussing on the routes that may work best.

Alternatively in an extreme corona downturn Flybe could be an asset because it’s a lot cheaper sending an empty Dash to Jersey on your Heathrow slot than an empty Dreamliner to New York

Good to hear the chaff is sorted however , Given the regularity of main landing gear collapses , engine failures , nose gear not deploying ETC they need the best aviators possible at the controls of those turkeys .

Compare this with easy jet for example who of course operate far more aircraft .
Incredible actually given the number of engine in flight shut downs and gear failures the regulator has not acted .

Yes, it is perfectly safe airline with i am sure great crews but its a horrid aircraft. Thats a criticism of the vomit burp inducing design and vintage flight deck not in any way how crews operate it. Anyway, my criticism is that i heard a rumour no-one but senior management knew the airline had days/hours left and if true, the trust i am sure is gone. I work for another carrier and the CVs are coming in regularly. The UK definitely does need an airline like flybe and its a great service to pop to europe etc. My worry is that after yesterdays please from the CEO to say basically 'we are the only airline who can do this, please give us some money', is another sign they are very much on the ropes. Why on earth dont virgin/delta/whatever consortium just put the money in instead of playing poker with the future of employees. in my opinion the flight crew job market is starting to downturn and the demise of flybe would make prospect of employment for all very difficult. He says they can go to the end of march. I take it he means payday, whatever day that is. I wish the best to all the employees and hope for some competency in the running of th airline but the latter seems to be a big ask.

Fortunately even the dimmest of the dim journalist will be able to see these postings for what they are, and disregard them and thus not jeopardising the prospects of those people working for Flybe that don't have enormous great chips on the shoulders.

There is a lot of naivety on here. It is a very simplistic view to suggest that investors keep putting their hands in their pockets to shore the business up every year. That is not a sustainable business model. The deal with the government is to reduce the taxes to make regional air travel sustainable going forward. It’s not about tax payers money being used to repay the overdraft. Most of BE’s flights are domestic, which means APD is paid twice. BE is therefore affected more than other airlines by the current system (its only paid on departure from a domestic airport). Hopefully the government will change the rules but I suspect their hands are going to be tied, as the lunatics are clearly running the asylum as we have seen with the recent judgment against LHR. I suppose we should all go back to commuting by horse and carriage.
The consortium that bought Flybe certainly should have done better due diligence last year - but the negative consequences of their approach are taken on by their shateholders. It should also be remembered that Flybe was near collapse. Had Virgin/Cyrus/Stobart realised how bad things were and decided not to get involved, I think Flybe would have most likely gone into administration.
