Hmm, a bit of slot optioneering maybe? If they swapped them round they might just about arrive in DUB at the same time!

Does anyone know anything about Air Malta returning to Manchester, going there next year and according to TUI the flights are with Air Malta whereas previously they've used easyJet

If you bothered to read OAN 52 you would see that
1.0 A programme of just over 2 weeks work to convert a section of Taxiway Juliet (east of Link Mike) into a landside area to facilitate temporary car parking. The main aircraft entry point to Runway 23R will be Link Mike. Aircraft unable to vacate Runway 05L or depart Runway 23R via Link Mike (Runway Holding Point M1) will be required to backtrack the runway, as directed by ATC.
4.1 Once the required work has been completed, the car park will be in-situ and operational until Tuesday 31st October, after which, there will be a programme of work to remove the car park and restore the closed section of Taxiway Juliet to normal operations.
OAN 58 is the one that applies to the Taxiway J works....
Presume this is a last minute measure to deal with car parking displaced by the TP along with increasing passenger demand....
Wonder what other rabbits will be pulled out of hats during the TP?

Sorry Matey - totally incorrect. It is for landside car parking and nothing at all to do with the Taxiway Works.

The Notam will I'm sure be updated nearer to the time. They are normally only issued less than a week in advance, normally on a Thursday. If issued too soon then there could be multiple overlapping items.

They also seem happy to indulge Grayling!
Crossrail funding angers North mayors after electrification cuts
I would have thought the board would have been apoplectic. At least the manchester one .
The North seems very "compliant" and easily pushed around.

According to the late North West News on the BBC, there has been some very strong reaction but I'm not sure if the airport has participated. Diplomacy is all very well but I trust MAN won't let this go without making their views known in no uncertain terms, publicly or privately to Grayling. Both the electrification and extra Piccadilly platforms projects are highly relevant to MAN's continued development.
Apart from the principles involved, I can't decide whether he's inept at the politics of it given the timing of the two announcements, or he just couldn't care less what the reaction is.

Yes I'm a bit away from this but whilst wining and dining Grayling re your new TP he was seemingly already formulating his devious plans behind that false smile to cut what was already a pittence compared to the SE.
Did MAG know he was also going to stick the knife in re crossrail 2 as well ?
Probably not!
This is all in stark contrast to the adulation the MAG twitterati bestowed on him via social media as the second coming last Friday!
Maybe they thought he was coming with a sack of goodies rather than a hatchet concealed in his overcoat.
3 days on those photo call pictures of a beaming Charlie Cornish with a two faced "Ayling Grayling" seem somewhat embarrassing not to say tarnished and stale.

So, the good news:
Thomas Cook will increase San Fransisco to 3 weekly next summer, with flights on Tue/Thu/Sun.
Combined with Los Angeles on a Mon/Wed/Sat, it means the West coast is now available 6 days a week.
The bad news:
Looks like Easyjet has scared off Air Arabia Maroc, as the latter no longer lists Manchester as an option on its home page. It's a shame, as Air Arabia could have been a great little airline to have on board, as they could have expanded to Tangier and Fez like they have at LGW. Instead, we will have to make do with more orange army.

Roll-up destinations
Good news about 'Frisco. What days do Virgin depart on? hopefully with a bit of schedule shuffling we might get six days a week just to SFO next year rather than two flights every other day.
Air Arabia - better that EZY & RAM strengthen on the Casablanca route (or is it Marrakesh?) than another upstart tip the cart over and everyone land in camel poo. It would be nice to see some of our once quite extensive North African destinations gradually return if the political situation there improves. Big potential.

It seems MAN is now fully appearing on the Air Arabia website again, as for 2 days (Mon/Tue), all traces of MAN (and only MAN) had disappeared off the home page. Hopefully all is ok.

VS future at MAN
Hi All
In light of yesterday's announcement that the DL/VS transatlantic JV would become a global one and also incorporate AF/KL/MU, I was wondering whether anyone had a view on how this new arrangement would impact VS' operations at MAN.
The most valuable part of VS operations are how they use slots at LHR. So I wonder whether the JV will cut short haul flying into LHR (e.g. AF, KL) in order to use them for VS, DL and MU (possibly in future 9W).
From VS/DL's perspective, they have wanted to get feed at the European end. DL obviously had that via Skyteam but I expect this will add something. Assuming KL/AF keep flying to LHR, both are in T4 and DL/VS are in T3 - so transfers won't be easy (also AF/KL fly where DL/VS fly so I don't see this adds much).
As regrds routing passengers over MAN, I don't see what this adds to the JV given the relatively small service levels which won't really go anywhere AF/KL don't. It might make it easier to grab the rest of the UK market via MAN using BE, but KL fly to most U.K. Regionals anyway and BE have an agreement with AF. Despite the reported levels of transfer traffic into VS metal at MAN, I can't see a major attraction to the JV of this. Given the pressure being brought by TCX at MAN, we could see a rethink.
However, two points do jump out at me.
1 - 9W will almost certainly join in on this JV in time. I could see the attraction of routing some India-USA passengers via MAN as opposed to LHR/AMS/CDG. MAN has been crying out for BOM and maybe some transfer flows will mean this route reaches tipping point and frees up some London O&D capacity at LHR.
2 - MU (I think) retain some rights to MAN services? I may be wrong as I have a feeling it was CAN which I think are now in HUs hands.
Anyway, food for thought. Be good to hear anyone's view on this.

MU would be very unlikely to have served Guangzhou, as it's not their main hub. China Eastern (MU) has its main hub at Shanghai. I think you may have been thinking of China Southern (CZ) for Guangzhou?
