It's actually Private Eye !

I commend it to the house !

------------------------------------------------------------

Some people really are living in Narnia !

"we now have the impetus following the recent devolved powers to GM to move forward in developing and promoting the northern hub with MAN and it's Great City and Towns at the centre".

That's like being pushed over a cliff and being told we are still doing Ok as we slide into an utter abyss !

£6 billion pound of our money under a lie that this will benefit Manchester

say it again ....6 thousand million

.....are WE ALL completly bonkers !

You would not invest that kind of sum without knowing the value that we would get in return !

so somebody please provide those figures OR THE dosh stays in here in the N West !

Personal view.... it's not just about airports. Things in the UK have become seriously screwed across the political divide and country borders during the last decade or so based of what school, club or lodge you belong to. Let's keep Scotland, Wales & NI happy, how can be united when we have different standards depending on your postcode. Free prescriptions Uni education etc. Things got worse after the Scottish referendum as the coalition against independence had to keep their promises. Personally I still think they will go Indy now that another leader with another fishes name has taken over. Now things always happen in SE much quicker especially infrastructure. HS1, Crossrail etc
"Eurostar est ici" on approaching Piccadilly ha ha. Bottom line was that we needed HS2 then ES was not viable on West coast mainline and that was before it was upgraded. London has "Oyster" when have "Get me there" yes a system more technically advanced using current tech but shouldn't we be able to use either system in both cities and throughout our nation why does this happen? So yes I agree what goes on down south has an influence on what happens everywhere including airports but we have an election looming and I think politically there is more devolution on its way to the extent that England will divide as some point. I love the idea of the East West Hub with improved high speed rail Between the Cities, extend the M67 to Sheffield and beyond.
Back to MAN & things that I'd like to see.
1. Full taxiway system 23L/05R before it has to be used more often.
2. Terminal improvements and remodelling by that I don't mean the Spanish Model of building over car parks. The suggestions of connectivity seems sensible I've even thought of crazy ideas but brilliant such as building a new terminal off Simonsway/ shadowmoss and using the tram system to deliver to gates by shuttles like LHR T5.
3. In the meantime remove the "tax free" maze and dodging in T1/2. Clear routes required. Nobody buys in them. Traditional outlets much better.
4. Corridor from T3 security to departure area is narrow and messy & bring it onto1 level.

Apologies for being a little off topic & I don't live in Narnia. Actually a stones throw from EGCC since 1969, yes I can fly aeroplanes, although only for pleasure these days! More of a passenger, a businessman, aviation enthusiast, regular traveller & big supporter of EGCC, the local economy and will be marrying my fiancé under G-BOAC. So I am qualified to have my say.

Not quite in GDS yet, they have made it to MAN's internal 'chroma' system.

Apparently showing June 1st start date on Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri.

Iraqi

Good news for the plane spotters and Kurds who want to do the VFR.
Bad news for the security services I would guess. These destinations are a much shorter route for the baddies to get to where they want to go than Turkey.
I expect and hope that the Police and intelligence services will be crawling all over each flight.

Iraqi Airways

Looks like 2015 is going to be an interesting year yet again for Manchester and hopefully these services will be very successful. But how come there is no flight to Baghdad? Do Sulaymaniah and Erbil offer better connections for their customers? Or is flying to cities outside the capital their strategy? If Iraqi Airways think there's a chance of Manchester working then how come other Middle Eastern airlines haven't recently (within the last few years) given it a go?

Iraqi Airways

The choice of routes is probably more to do with the security and stability situation in which is relatively better in the Kurdish areas as opposed to the situation in Baghdad which on the outskirts is threatened by IS etc. I'm pleased to see these routes started, let's hope things eventually get to a safe and stable situation in Iraq.

What a stupid statement

Emirates
Etihad
Qatar
Saudia
Turkish
All serve the region right now

Regrettably
Egyptair have left after slot bi-lateral issues
Libyan are suspended due to civil issues

Hermes have served the Iraqi market until recently (via Scandinavia)
Mahran has served Iran
Even Syrian served Manchester before their civil war

And Isreal is served via Easyjet, and several carriers serve the Egyptian coastal cities of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aqaba.

The region is well served imo

Hainan:

Apparently they have slots for 0530/1100Z 4 weekly on A330-200. Terminal 1.

Terminal 1 already busy enough at that time so I can see this changing. Would make sense for an afternoon arrival.
