Re SAS timings, I wasn't suggesting they change their schedules, simply pointing out that they don't work with the SQ slot application time for the MAN departure to IAH in response to another post.
As it happens, they would fit better on the return service if it has any relevance.

Smile Excellence at T1

There have been lots of complaints re passage through T1. Just wanted to say went through T1 early morning on 29 June and breezed through without any wait at all. It was about 6:00am. Staff were friendly and smiling. Glad didn't book priority lane. On return 5:00pm 6 July the same was true, no queue, straight through, bags ready within 15 minutes and out of airport only about 30 minutes after landing. Well done T1

Surprisingly given it's Monday, 0645 this morning was also pretty quick through T1 security. Unfortunately our inbound aircraft diverted back to origin shortly after take off, and the ensuing delay made our day trip pointless. Fortunately rebooking for a couple of weeks hence wasn't an issue, so back home again in time to cancel my day off and work instead!

I travelled through MAN on the 6th - smooth departure, no queue at security (T1) at 05:00. On arrival back to MAN very short wait at border with all desks manned and about 3 E-Gates working. Bags were also on the carousel by the time we were through. From landing to arrivals in 20 minutes!

Dublin is now up to 13 times per day between Ryanair and Aer Lingus.

Amsterdam is also a big market with up to 16 flights per day.

The BEneLUX area is probably the highest concentration of flights from Manchester scheduled wise, without doing the sums it probably has more flights per day than the traditional strong spot of the Balerics!:

16 per day to Amsterdam
4 per day to Brussels
2 per day to Charleroi
2 flights per day to Luxemborg
2 flights per day to Rotterdam
5 flights per week to Eindhoven

Up to 27 flights per day to that area, and that not even counting the 7 flights per day to nearby Dusseldorf and 5 weekly flights to Cologne!

From the Evening News, zip goes 24 million passengers!

"June saw 2.5 million passengers fly through the gateway, which is a 9.22 per cent increase on the same month last year.

That brings the moving annual total for Manchester Airport to 24,095,206."

MAG Delivers Fifth Year of Strong Growth | Manchester Airport

Lots of highlights including this subtle stat:

In 2015, MAG’s airports across the UK, at Manchester, London Stansted, East Midlands and Bournemouth, contributed £5.6 billion in economic activity to UK PLC. This means that for every £1 the Group earned in revenue, economic activity worth another £7.20 was generated in the wider economy as a result of the activities at our airports.
Seems like a political strategy is forming.

It needs to....

I have said before that whilst George is not everyones cup of tea, at least as far as Manchester is concerned the PR has been stratospheric!

Ok a slight of hand re NorthernPowerhouse and not a crumb of money but that aside at least Manchester stock as a major city has risen dramatically as has private investment, it was GO who for once was tub thumping in China not some twerp from the civil service.

So what now given the fortunes of the airport are linked to the City.

TM on the face of it gives the impression that a Northern Powerhouse might refer to Tring or Watford, but if she is genuine about equality maybe she will grasp the nettle that something has to change re investment. To quote another poster on here"the gravytrain of spend in the SE has to be balanced by proportional and fair investment up here."

One area where we may see that is a brake on a taxpayer subsidy for Heathrow, if rumours are correct it appears we may see a cabinet crammed full of the anti Heathrow brigade!

Just for once it would be good to see some investment in the crumbling infastructure up here rather than the trickle down effect 20 years hence of further multi billion projects in London!

An increase of just over 7% for the 6 months to 31 Dec should see MAN achieve 25 million for the calendar year.

Thanks for the link Betablockeruk. I trust copies of the MAG Annual Report and highlights will find their way to Mrs May's desk and her new Cabinet before too long for when they consider the odd aviation issue that might be pending??

...and with nobody batting for the N West any chance MAGs own Ken O 'Toole could take up the mantle ?

Talking of strategy and spin, do we know what happened to the former Heathrow spin Dr that MAG hired. He is based in an office near Westminster, his strategy must be Discreet with a capital D as i have not seen or heard of him since the appointment was made.

http://www.prweek.com/article/137813...communications

As strategy is formed by the new cabinet in the next few days and a tdunami of expansion NOW! really would be a good time to break loose from the Westminster bunker !

I guess he is doing what Public Affairs people do - lots of lunches, bringing people on side, swaying opinion in Westminster, etc. Rather than educating the uneducated disinterested masses (public).

But his twitter feed was utterly 100% pro LHR until July 2015 and then it stopped. Biggest 'Poacher turned Gamekeeper' I've seen in years!

LAX can you confirm that those extra flights are Aer Lingus to Dublin and not Stobart?

Plus another 3 Stobart to ORK and a daily to SNN. There's going to be a lot of Shamrocks at MAN this winter.

EIR/Stobart no longer serve SNN from MAN.
