Excellent point, forgot about them getting the PSO contract. Will that require both aircraft?

I don't think it will be a 500 based @ CWL. Probably a 201.

TCX(A321) from MANCHESTER arrived at SEN for a wash & brush up this evening dont know how long its going to be here, also in the past we have had JET2 aircraft here for paint jobs what are the chances of the AIR ASIA planes coming to SEN ? had 757s in before so size is not a problem

AirAsia probably have some company much nearer than SEN to do their maintenance for them. The fuel cost alone would be astronomical, so I can't realistically see them sending a plane to the other side of the globe for it. The only time you'll ever see an AirAsia plane at SEN is if it was being shipped to a new owner and was forced to make a pit stop there.
On a side note (albeit a bit late), having flown on AirAsia A320s twice in the last year the recent event is very sad news indeed.

If I'm not 100% mistaken, I believe mikkie44 is talking about the A330's... But then I don't understand the "has 757's in before so size is not a problem" comment. 6000ft runway would be more than enough for an empty A333 but I dunno about the taxiways etc.

To be honest an A330 may be pushing things a bit too far
When Heavylift put the A300 in, I believe it was towed off the runway?
From what little I can see online I would have thought the minimum runway width for an A330 would be 45m (SEN is 3m).

I heard a new Bar with Hot Food Restaurant is to be opened at the rear of the departures area extension early this year with the business lounge upstairs being extended into the Laker Bar area.
I don't know who will be operating it but a Wetherspoons would be ideal.

Can't help but feel that the writing is on the wall for Flybe and Storbart Air. This will probably be a make or break summer for them this year with regard to Southend.
I have lost the plot as to what was around last summer to what is left for this summer so does anyone know?
I can't knock the advertising though as I hear Southend mentioned everyday on the radio.
These are boom times for London's airports at the moment so it will be a shame if Southend drops passenger numbers while all the other airports grow.

Air Nostrum is starting services to London at the end of March using Canadair CRJ-900's. This is just the sort of airline and aircraft Southend needs to attract to give it a proper foothold in the London market.
