DURHAM TEES VALLEY AIRPORT - 6
Oldart, I bet thick fog does effect the trains. Drivers have there electronic gear but if you cannot see the station or the signals I bet it gets interesting.
On the main subject Peel took on another new guy from another airport so this might be some of his ideas coming to fruit.

I presume that the amount of traffic at MME makes it too expensive to justify CAT 3 ILS, low vis seems to be more of a problem now than it used to be, as apposed to NCL.

The fog issue at MME became worse after the Tees barrage was installed. I'm not entirely sure of the science behind it but I know a number of the older ATC staff who have mentioned it.
Latest CAA figures available..to be honest haven't a clue..they must have PEEL advising them on production of figures!! What is going on..please go back to early last year when it was so much easier to work out!
However..it looks pretty poor. -17%. month on month on year?
Last person out please put out the landing, garage and toilet lights...and don't forget to put the rubbish out every fortnight..on a Tuesday...

I just cant believe the pax figures are still going down and haven't bottomed out yet when all our neighbours are still going up year on year.....
As for the bins and putting the lights out etc... it will give the characters of the FoDTV something to do
I've no insider knowledge, but based on all their recent pronouncements it doesn't seem like Peel see the airports future in the airline game - they seem to be happy to talk to anybody who expresses an interest but don't seem to be interested in attracting new business (probably for the reasons R-R has stated - there is no money in it without a fair amount of investment) - just look at the lukewarm response to LHR expansion comments. They seem to see the future as an aviation facility rather than an airport, so think Hurn or Staverton - that's certainly the direction of the Masterplan.
I might be totally off beam (it happens - occasionally... ), but that seems to be the way they're heading. They just need to do enough to keep KLM on board (the reason behind the recent overnight staffing changes?), and that will keep the LA's happy.

Aberdeen still being dragged down by around 20% and that's across the board not just at DTVA, Amsterdam may be a little down but given the sharp increase over the last year there's nothing to worry about providing it doesn't continue.
FoDTVA is personally not my cup of tea, but I'll never understand why people are so eager to bash them? I was talking to one bloke just last week, think he was the events guy, and he was telling me about the amount of work they are going to be juggling over the next two months.

Tees Valley Mayor wants to buy back DTV Airport
Ben Houchen is the new Tees Valley Mayor. He wants to buy back airport.
Wonder if Peel can be made to sell the land they got for £500k?

In their own words - what Tees Mayor candidates will do if they're elected - Gazette Live
My underlining - couple of points, airports don't operate many flights (well, SEN excluded) and to buy something, first it has to be up for sale...
Just what's needed - more uncertainty!
As Conservative candidate for Tees Valley Mayor, one of my main priorities is to buy back Teesside Airport if elected.
I will use part of the new public money at my disposal to conduct a deal with the airport owner, Peel Investments (DTVA) Ltd, which will give back the airport services to the people of Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool.
For too long Teesside airport has been allowed to decline. It was sold off a generation ago and local people have had less influence. The result has been a struggle for flights compounded by policies such as drop-off fees and passenger fees that actively discourage airport users.

I note DTV now our local airport , having read page after page of gloom.
But if this new mayor can buy theme airport
This community needs choice, for one thing Newcastle may be a good airport and a decent route network.
But it's draw back is the A1 .
The current widening to motorway is now inexplicably held up.
North of that it's D2 all the way. Ugh doing 45mph elephant races.
Trains are not direct.
Yet now having been around this area having located from 59km from Knock .
I'M surprised at the huge size and urban sprawl of Teesside.
I noted a wind farm mfr.
The obvious oil rig near lotus.
Yet Teesside mirrors the HUY timetable exept the latter does have Thonson now doung two routes.
My thoughts and is be interested in your opinion.
Billund for the Green energy business tried and failed at guy Imho using bad timings and the wrong airframe.
Return the bucket and spade routes .
Alicante - Palma etal.
Paris.
Dublin.
And would there be demand for LCY?.
Or Stanstead.
Due to a lack of direct ECML rail access I could see how a London route would be well used if served by Flybe.
Would an Emb175 be an ideal aiframe?.
Anyway thank you for reading this is my second ever post.
