I've no insider knowledge, but based on all their recent pronouncements it doesn't seem like Peel see the airports future in the airline game - they seem to be happy to talk to anybody who expresses an interest but don't seem to be interested in attracting new business (probably for the reasons R-R has stated - there is no money in it without a fair amount of investment) - just look at the lukewarm response to LHR expansion comments. They seem to see the future as an aviation facility rather than an airport, so think Hurn or Staverton - that's certainly the direction of the Masterplan.
I might be totally off beam (it happens - occasionally...
), but that seems to be the way they're heading. They just need to do enough to keep KLM on board (the reason behind the recent overnight staffing changes?), and that will keep the LA's happy.
