Only when there is no one left in Eastern Europe. The airlines success is based on migration so as more and more people decide to live in the UK the demand can only increase.
3 of the top 5 destinations are now Eastern Europe. As a side note it is interesting that more people now fly to Tel Aviv than any UK airport.
(1) Budapest
(2) Amsterdam
(3) Bucharest
(4) Dublin
(5) Warsaw
(6) Tel Aviv
(7) Glasgow
(8) Geneva
(9) Edinburgh
(10) Malaga

According to their website, Galway Airport has reopened Galway Airport | Aerphort na Gallimhe | Connecting You. Could we see VLM fly there too before long?

Hmm - well - I am trying to calculate the correct travel time to Luton Airport next Sunday morning. National Rail Enquiries indicate that pre-0900hrs. departures from St. Pancras to Luton Parkway take 45 minutes. So - add on all that Underground time from EC2 to St. Pancras (say 25 minutes ?) and we should arrive at Luton Airport Parkway after 1hr 10 minutes assuming there are no delays. Then - up and down the stairs at Parkway - then wait for the shuttle. Say a 15 minute trek in all??? Say 10 minutes to Luton Airport and a 5 minute walk to check-in / arrivals. 1Hr. 40 mins in all. Hmmmm.

Well - thank you Evanelpus!! I note your advice that maybe someone SHOULD allow maybe 2 hours(?) to get from the City to Luton Airport on a Sunday morning!! Now - how does that compare with travel to other London airports from the City? Hmmm!!

"Not all that far behind" - well - 64 minutes direct from EC2 (London Liv. St.) to Southend Airport once the Greater Anglia service finally wakes up on a Sunday morning. And 10 minutes walk to Terminal and Security.
Now how are those delays at Stansted Airport Border Force lately?

At that time of the day on a Sunday the train will stop at every station which is a bit like traveling to Southend at any time of the day so I feel your pain, as it will feel like a long journey. There is a non stop express train that leaves at 9.00 and arrives at 9:27 if that is not too late.

@EssexMan61,
As a daily traveler at Luton Airport Parkway, I can confirm the following:
Within 2 minutes of arrival at the platform you can exit the station to find one of a fleet of buses waiting to take you to the terminal. Once the passengers are all on you can then spend around 5 minutes traveling to the terminal. I do however accept your comment that you imply Sunday services on the Thameslink line are crap for which I agree. Add to that the shambles of the Govia train company who cancels so many services, then sadly I believe Luton Airport needs to exert pressure on the Government and request a new operator take over the franchise!
@wallp, I stated several weeks ago that Galway was a potential route but my comment was dismissed!
IOM and JER I believe will soon be on the cards once more!

EssexMan61 It would be better to get a through ticket to Luton Airport rather than Luton Airport Parkway as that ticket will include the shuttle bus.

Thank you all for the advice / comments. I must say that I am looking forward to passing through Luton Airport again to see how it has changed / is changing. Thanks again.

Don't know when the last time you passed through Luton but if it is in the last 10 years since the departure lounge opened I doubt you will see any changes apart from the fact that the check-in area had a make-over a few years back with more lighting being installed. Before then it was always a good idea to bring along a torch.
Come back in 2 years time to see the big difference if the airport ever actually gets around to starting the upgrade which was supposed to have started in the first quarter of this year.

Noticed that easy have increased Copenhagen to 4 x daily, on several days each week, with the start of the winter timetable. Several increases to other routes as well. Ryanair have CPH at 3 x daily for the winter.

EZY don't seem to be continuing their 2x weekly STN-CPH next winter. If to my understanding CPH offer discounted rates to un-served destinations, maybe that will encourage FR to switch to STN.
Also depends if FR keep CPH as a base due to the issues they've had lately with their use of Irish contracts. If they were to close the CPH base, I would imagine it would shift to STN as FR don't have the aircraft capacity in LTN.

Was just reading how FlyBE have seven Embraer E-195's parked and struggling to make them work on their network...
Purely hypothetical, but if FlyBE were to approach Luton and base a couple of those aircraft here. What routes do you think could work for the airline and support a 118 seater aircraft?
(Without competing against the other based airlines at the airport.)
I was thinking possibly daily routes to like:
Frankfurt
Oslo
Stockholm
Possibly too big to operate daily, but maybe 3-4 flights a week to:
Athens
Cork
Dubrovnik
Helsinki
IOM
Jersey via Guernsey

CPH has become a real battleground and one which EZY seem determined to win. It's hard to imagine that 7 flights a day between EZY & FR is sustainable. I too would expect to see FR shift to STN eventually leaving EZY wat LTN which is probably the best possible outcome in the long term.
As for FlyBe and a hypothetical return, they'd neeed to carve out a network of more niche routes where here wouldn't be competition from the likesof EZY, so Oslo, Stokholm,, Athens, Dubrovnik, Helsinki........ no chance as EZY would hop onto those routes quickly and strangle them, however destinations like GCI, JER, IOM, perhaps some French regional routes too could work even though FlyBe have recently tried and failed to make some of these routes fa work from LTN. I do think it's unlikely they'll return.
What I hope is that the likes of VLM see what a great opportunity LTN offers for more niche routes and build on the WAT service by extending to destinations like GWY, Channel Islands.........

LTNMAN,
Such a shame LTN cannot start all over again with its terminal and apron stands lay outs.
Its always looks such a mess when I travel from LTN , suppose not much can be done due to the geography of the airport.
