Yes I know and it is all rather depressing. The bridge is brand new yet already looks like it has been standing 10 years without any love and attention. It was opened without being cleaned and was and still is covered in builders dust outside the railing walkway. The paint is chipped and even missing in places and that was on day one.

The floor does get cleaned but not nearly enough and on any wet days dirty footprints cover both bridges for the entire route and due to the painted floor is slippery under foot. The painted floor is already covered in marks and scuffs that general cleaning doesn't touch. I think maybe the bridge should have had a tarmac finish to hide the dirt.

As for the broken down lifts both the short term and multi story contain disabled parking bays with no alternative route to get to the terminal if the lifts are out of action. I have no idea how anyone who could not manage four flights of stairs would get to and from the terminal.

I don't see much growth from Wizz at all, based on the figures provided I make it only 2 additional flights per week rising to 7 in September.

Some of the information hasn't been updated since the original release of the timetable.

This link above shows the Wizz timetable. By the looks of it this could be a new route but has been shown under Sofia for now with one flight going at 08:00 and 08:10.
The followling photos show Cluj at 21 weekly: http://s349.photobucket.com/user/rpr...tml?sort=3&o=0

Wizz will grow capacity by upgrading some Gdansk, Sofia and Vilnius flights from A320 to A321. Full list WizzAir expands A321 routes in S17 :: Routesonline

That's a very impressive schedule though I do think Prague is woefully underserved with terrible flight times

Its unlikely we will be seeing any significant growth from Wizzair for the moment, after Brexit vote last year, they explained how they would be adjusting their future growth plans for the UK...

Regardless of peoples views of Brexit, Wizzair do seem to have stuck to their promise...

But on the other hand regardless of Brexit, is it really possible for Wizzair to grow much more at LTN? They serve practically every central/eastern europe destination they currently serve and I think now is the time where they are tweaking their schedules to match demand.

I think growth with Wizzair is beginning to plateau and has done so for the last year or two, while they continue to join the dots between other destinations on their route map, including building their presence at other UK regional airports like LPL, DSA, BHX and BRS.

With the lifts still out of order after nearly a week the airport has taken some drastic action by ripping up their newly completed railings and re-opening the pedestrian crossing that crosses the approach road. From the short term car park there is no signage that the crossing has been opened again so many people are still having to climb the stairs with luggage.

I am thinking that management will be thinking twice before putting the railings back as the airport had no plan B for when the lifts are out of order. Got to say it is a complete shambles and poor management that no one had thought of what would happen when the lifts stopped working.

you will guess from my user name I am not a Local, I flew out of LTN this week and parked in the short stay (the construction site one not the multi story), arriving before sunrise and in the middle of the peak rush the sineage for the car parks are very hard to see in the dark. There are cars everywhere doing unexpected things and trying to avoid a collision was the main priority. I was hoping to park in the multi story but could not find the entrance. When I asked the guide on the crossing where the entrance was he said there was no point telling me as it changes every week.

when I got into the terminal Security worked well but the departure lounge is now under such a level of modernisation that many of the food outlets including the main restaurant are closed. Starbucks have not compensated for this with increased staff numbers so Pret was just about the only place to get coffee and this is right by the point where everyone wait's for the gates to be displayed hence a huge crowd.

At the moment LTN is not a great place to leave from. when is it planned to get better.

The signage for the multistory stops when the approach road is parallel to the drop off zone. After that there is nothing but I think that not all the signage is in place yet. The entrance is actually just before the exit barriers on a sharp bend but even the entrance which is hard to spot is not signposted.

I think the opening was rushed to get it part opened for Christmas but with next to no one using it anyway they might as well have not bothered as it has already been reported that only 17 cars were on the two floors open to the public.

As for when things will get better, well that is going to be a slow process. Bella Italia is about to open in the departure lounge as they have already had a recruitment drive before Christmas and are having another one next week. I think they will be sharing the views over the eastern apron with a new pub that will hopefully be opening soon, as the area with the windows overlooking the apron has been split into two large food and beverage units.

Apart from that I can't any other increase in the size of the departure lounge that will be open to the public for the whole of this year but with the new outlets open it will be better than last summer.

Pier A is all but finished with the barriers down for the new infill.

I think next winter will see the terminal extensions open, which can't come soon enough, but when the extension opens work will then start on closing down every existing shop and food outlet in the check-in area/ ground floor so to expand the security hall.

The new road network will be finished in the next few months but I can't see the £11 million being spent on it making any difference with the traffic congestion, which is all down to the poor design of the single drop off lane.

The short term car park should be getting a new surface soon and again it can't come soon enough. It is a total disgrace how it has been allowed to get into such a state with pot holes merging to form small deep lakes in places that are impossible to cross on foot.

The lobby of the main footbridge core on the terminal side is going to need to have the floor partially dug up in my opinion as part of it sits in a hollow so it sits in water and can't be crossed safely. It seems very strange to see filthy water inside a building but that is Luton Airport for you. This might explain why one of the lifts has been closed off as there is a large puddle by its doors.

So to summarize next summer will be better than last summer but the real improvements are still a long way off. Also lets not forget the start of the new station and cut and cover tunnel so work inside the CTA will last until at least 2021 but there might be a gap of a year or two before work starts inside the CTA on the MTS

You might well be right

Guernsey

Wasn't there talk of flights to Guernsey this year?

Anyone know if that's still likely or not?

The same question was asked in post 5538, everyone seems interested in the so called Guernsey route which in my opionion won't be happening.

Welcome to the UK's fifth largest airport

My trip from the short term car park and across the bridge in savage 3rd world conditions where the car park is flooded, the lifts don't work and what looks like the dirtiest floor in the UK which was either covered in muddy foot prints or was closed off due to deep standing water. Not bad for a route that has been open for less than 3 weeks!!!

Yes all this can be yours for £11 for a 50 minute stay.

Yes that is a pool of muddy water that is hard to avoid when walking down the stairs. Oh and that sign was dated 3rd January saying that the lifts don't work and today is the 8th.

What an absolute shambles it all is, so cheap, so nasty, so tasteless, so third world and yet it's the UK's fifth busiest airport, LTN management should be totally ashamed of themselves as the investment so far looks so inferior compared to the initial renderings.

LTN should have been totally rebuilt from scratch rather than this piss poor investment which has made LTN go from bad to seriously worst and deserves to be in the lower category of airports despite its millions of passengers.

It's an embarrassment to even add London to Luton International Airport, I always refer to it as just plain Luton as in no way does it warrant it being London-Luton.
