Compton3bravo it has been mentioned at 3 weekly which is 1 more than last year but it was never mentioned that the flight is running for longer this year.
So 27+28 will cause 2 new gates which as I said are still being made but with a lower gate number.

The new ground floor pre-boarding zones being built now on pier A will be for the eastern apron only and each zone will be a different size depending on how many pillars got filled in.
From the terminal out the infill was for 3, 5 and 1 pillar for 4, 6 and 2 gaps either side of the pillars being filled in. The plans only show 2 pre boarding zones as the infill at the far end is small. There are still not enough pre- boarding zones even allowing for the potential mini one unless they utilize the extra space gained from the upstairs infill to put a couple up there which I doubt will happen.
As for the Northern side of the pier that is just gaining an extra gate and no more.

Construction update
Does this mean that Multi-story car park 2 is planned?
Work starts again on digging out the embankment by the fire station
The temporary exit route has now closed with all traffic being routed under both footbridges. This new route is still waiting for its top layer of tarmac and the last of the kerbing to be installed.
With the last of the delivered steelwork being installed Friday morning we will have to wait and see if this is as far is it goes for a while.

If the planned MPT station is meant to be open topped as I believe it has been mentioned, the drop off zone will need to relocate, and perhaps it will be into a 2nd multi storey based on LTNmans photo?

Looking at the last picture you can clearly see how dirty the coach bays are already looking, I can imagine how they will look in another year considering they are only less than a year old.

The pavements are also covered in flattened walked in chewing gum.
One thing I have noticed is that the new build is free standing and doesn't appear to be physically attached to the existing terminal.
The frontage of the existing terminal is located over the service road tunnel and holes had to be cut through the roof of the tunnel for the columns that are against the terminal wall.

Vueling fares from Luton for summer 2016 were bookable via the BA website, but not for 2017.
However I was shocked when I saw Vueling will be operating five flights a day to Barcelona from Gatwick, in addition to the two from Luton.
Also the shear number of destinations from Gatwick operated by Vueling surprised me too, easyJet must really be feeling the heat and no wonder they want to make Luton a fortress. Would be great to see some of these routes come north of the Thames to Luton, and introduce routes we haven't had before.

During the summer priority parking used several floors as the general public can't use the car park yet so there is clearly a demand for more than 340 spaces. I can see this car park being eventually pure priority parking with a new multistory being built during the construction of the new station inside the existing short term car park that will also contain the new drop off area.
Another multistory of similar size to the one being built would allow enough space for 5 extra nose in aircraft stands. Aircraft would have to be backed onto taxiway Delta for start up which could be a reason why yet to be built parallel taxiway Foxtrot is being built as part of the last phase.
How it could turn out.
In pink and oposite the existing MSCP a second multistory
In blue Piers C and D serving a new apron and the south stands.
In yellow 5 nose in stands

To be fair to BA/Vueling, there are no flights from Gatwick operated by Vueling showing on the BA website, when I checked LGW-BCN.

Ideally we would benefit from maybe two carriers doing a single route unless there is proven demand for more. Otherwise we just end up with a short term price war and then someone buckles. Let's focus on routes not currently served at all or are without frequent services from two carriers.

New Piers
LTNman,
Approximately 5 years ago Luton Borough Council drew plans for the pier's you refer to as C and D (LUTON FUTURE OPTIMIZATION) with each having five and six A/C stands respectively.
In terms of a long walk as suggested by 'toledoashley' It could be done by placing travelators?
If they built a second multistory car park they could release acres of land for further drop off lanes thus possibly eliminating all congestion too date and handle an increase in passenger levels with no further problems?

As I posted earlier in the month, one of the staff members at the people mover consultation told me that the airport was planning a second multi-storey car park, which would incorporate a new drop-off zone. He said the planning application would go in within 12 months.

Is there a big chunk of high-spec office space currently vacant within a couple of miles of Luton ?
If they move out of the CTA I can see them heading down to one of the airport new enterprise zones and out of the three of them I would think it would be Sterling Place by Parkway with a direct link into the airport.

Of course there is the issue of their maintenance hangar. With Signature gaining an unplanned hangar with their takeover it would not surprise me if Easyjet moved in to Monarchs old hangar 7-8 for their Airbus maintenance.

Air Nostrum
I notice that Iberia / Air Nostrum have put tickets on sale for Luton - Vigo for summer 2017 (2x weekly, Thurs and Sunday). However, Luton - San Sebastian does not seem to be on sale at the moment.
Anyone know whether the San Sebastian route met revenue targets over summer 2016 and whether it is likely return next summer ?
