Another bad day at LTN. Airport is currently full of A/C and several are holding to get in. Currently working on a one in, one out basis. Even had a Monarch and a bizjet holding over the LUT NDB (Final App) at 3000/4000 feet respectively. Several holding further out at the designated holding fixes.

6 holding for take off. There has been thunderstorms in the area which might have held up the departure rate. Situation not helped by 2 lost stands for building work.

The car park will look good though. And the politicians, boroughs, halls, committees, councils, NIMBYs, greens, blues, pinks can continue arguing for another decade if any airport around London would need a new runway (while LLAL will continue allocating airport slots to everyone without the capacity to serve the traffic when it comes to real life).

They might be consolidated to nothing if they don't sell. I can't remember much demand for the Silverstone Grand Prix over the years from outside the UK flying into Luton.

Also the Grand Prix is on the 19th with practice sessions starting on the 17th so one flight out before the race and 3 flights back the day after. That can't be right can it?

I thought this was a little bit strange but hopefully we get to see a 787 landing at the airport later this week.

An increase of 17.6% again by the airport with half term mostly falling in June this year. Also busiest day in the history of the airport with over 50,000 using the airport on the 27th of May.
2 new routes this next weekend with Adria and Wizz flying to Pristina and Olsztyn-Mazury. I believe that Sun express will start around the first 2 weeks of July.

My money would be on a charter for the teams and media for the Baku GP.

I think the charters to Barku are mostly for the press, sponsors and people who are connected with the teams. Same happened last year when the Russian grand Prix was held at Sochi. Sorry Buster you beat me to it!

Are the Antonov 12 flights F1 related also? There was one a few days back and also one just now.

I believe the movement last week was in relation to an easyJet aircraft which required spares to be flown out for a repair?

The airport have published a good photo of the the CTA. The photo highlights the only pocket of land between the multistory car park and the embankment that will be vacant land within the CTA

Grrr

Long Term car park looks full and we haven't hit the school holidays yet! A nice view from the top floor of the multistory for plane spotters

I think a word of praise should go to everybody who works at the airport to get 50,500 passengers through the airport in 24 hours considering what state the airport is in at the moment.

50,564 passengers in a day is the equivalent of 18,455,860 for the year So the airport has already passed its new daily capacity limit 4 years before the building work is finished on at least one day before the summer peak. Hard to take it all in really as I can remember when staff out numbered passengers on a winters afternoon.

That spot of land where the ground level short stay car park, is screaming out to be a new 6 or 8 pack apron, with the pier they are currently extending, being further extended right down to where the easyJet aircraft are parked in the right if the photo!

God knows what they would do for future drop off zones or additional short stay parking, if my idea came to fruition?

Giles,
If you have a look at post 3383 (courtesy of LTNman) , i know its a long way back , you will see that was in the original plans projected by the council.
I agree it is the obvious choice going forward, we shall see.
