Based on history and the facts that Emirates are currently building up a third wave of connections the most likely developments will be a third flight AND introduction of the first product at the same time.

This will spread out the Y seats through the day with reduced number per flight.
They may well continue to operate a two class 77W on the evening service through.

I don't see a 388 for at least another few years.

Just my opinion.

Not sure why people get fixated with First, so long as Business gets good yields the route will be safe. Many of the US majors don't even offer it and QR's LHR offering only has it on some flights with MAN and EDI not even that, same with Etihad. Show's how exceptional, literally, Emirates have become.

Emirates

bhx bod

Quite a straightforward month to calculate for me with 112 sectors of which 110 were two class 428 seat aircraft and just the one three class on the 4th which was a 360 seat version.

428 x 110 = 47080 & 360 x 2 = 760 making a total of 47800 seats.

The provisional figure was 43031 which is 384 pax a flight - 90% load factor.

The average pax figure is one of the highest ever.

As rutankrd has stated EK are building the third wave at Dubai and the next step seems that it will be the third service whenever that will be.

Does the 380 make economic sense on DXB / BHX?

I imagine that the operating cost of the 380 vs. 773 is much higher. Does the increase in passenger capacity, set against the reduced cargo capacity, and higher operating cost make the 380 a sensible option for the route?

I have no idea, but my hunch is that a third 777 service may make better economic sense than changing one of the twice daily services to a 380.

Thanks for clearing that up.It does seem that our long haul flights are doing ok at the moment which is encouraging.
Let's hope it continues

That's great, but the evening departures are now either 17:25 or 22:00 meaning either it's too early for a day in Dublin, or would make for a very long day if you went for the 22:00 flight. The 19:40 departure DUB-BHX is quite handy at the moment.

EI seem to have tweaked their departures however, they now do an 18:15 departure DUB-BHX which when combined with the 08:10 BHX-DUB flight makes for decent times, plus the fare usually seems pretty similar to FR's fare.

According to the press release it's 6-8 flights per day, not 4. So a fair increase

Welcome to Ryanair terminology. 8 flights per day means 4 each way.

I understand that due to aircraft shortages PIA are going to be using a Airbus A310 today on the PK791/792 Islamabad service instead of the usual Boeing 777

PIA

I think an A310 turned up last Sunday as well. They have started to appear more frequently,I hope it is only a temporary thing but you never know with
PIA.

Incidently regarding EK loads I can get hold of numbers in business and economy sections from time to time but I don't know the rules regarding passing on this information over the public domain. If anyone can advise I would be grateful as I don't want get myself or anyone else into trouble, thanks!

I think we all know the rules on that sort of commercially sensitive data....

As bhx_bod has stated this will be the third A310 out of the last 5 five Sundays with one cancelled and the other a 772. The 77W has also disappeared since early February which used to show on the Thursday flight but will loads at 75% I suppose there is little problem.

bhx_bod - It would be very interesting re the EK split but my opinion would be to keep it to yourself as it doesn't really come much commercially sensitive than that although unless you know the fares paid and the amount of upgrades I suppose it is still difficult to get an accurate picture.

February route analysis. Pax figures from the CAA the rest from local sources and airline seat-maps.

As the monthly figure suggests these are generally good and above the usual February average and the question is... was yield compromised to obtain some of these figures? Ryanair fleet-wide load factor was 78% with none of the BHX routes below this other than UK & Eire with some in the 90's matching high-summer.

To me the Germanwings brand compared to Lufthansa is not yet cutting the mustard and hopefully Dusseldorf won't go the same way. Flybe's reduction of seats on some routes has not shown up as a loss of pax although domestics are a better a gauge of this. Internationally MXP, AMS saw less frequencies with STR, DUS & CDG similar and I assume they are happy with BHX at least. Waterford seems to be ticking along nicely although the load factor is a little bit distorted by a couple of cancellations.

IT pax continue to get mixed in with schedule on HAJ, FUE, ACE and TFS.

BHX-BOD,

Re figures you can get hold of...

Do you mean those that have PAID full whack to go in Business class, as that may be very different to those TRAVELLING in business class.

My sister and friend were upgraded from EK economy to business class out of BHX but only paid economy fare for example.

Friends of ours have also been upgraded twice on EK etc etc..

That's a very good point Nigel, EK are one of the best in the business (if you'll excuse the pun) for upgrades - not just from BHX but other airports too. That's why it's nigh on impossible to gauge the success or otherwise of an EK route from anywhere judged by L/Fs alone.

As is often said on Pprune the only thing that counts is yield - and only the airlines bean counters will know that - they're never going to share it on a public forum.

Also a lot of people cash their FF points in for upgrades or free flights in B-Class as a treat.

Having said that a good L/F is good for the airport itself

Ok,all things considered it is probably best to not give out certain information.
The numbers are only basic figures taken from the load sheet data.
I stress they are only basic numbers but do give a split of numbers in J and Y class. However as rightly pointed out I can't find out how many are premium paying customers or who has upgraded. So best not to say any more.

On a different topic it appears that Biman CEO Kevin Steele has resigned due health reasons.I wonder where this leaves BHX with regard to the proposed new service.

Looks like theres more to the story than ill health! See the link below. Biman will remain a basket case. I wouldn't hold out much hope for the Birmingham flight!

The issues that might have caused the rift include appointment of general sales agents (GSA), recent aircraft leases and farewell flight operations of the DC-10 aircraft, they said.
from the link on the previous post.
I wonder if they made any money on that (pretty awesome)final gig.
