Someone has stated on the BHX page that Flybe announce their Summer 2016 schedule tomorrow......not sure if that is just for BHX or the entire network but hope there are some new destinations for CWL and the E195's.

Some more "sun routes" be good.....anyone else heard anything ??

jetstream7 - Back in CWL today and VanAir doing the VLY flights OK-UBA.

I did ask around whether the Lets will be a permanent feature, everyone I asked unsure about this. Linksair still the ticket agent at present and they have got VanAir (acmi) to supply the frames.
Good times for VanAir, nice little company and nice pilots working in a niche market, they were also suppyling a frame to Silve rair

If Flybe do any more routes from CWL they'll have to get rid of current routes as there's no fat in the schedule as it is.

Flybe's schedule is out tomorrow (apparently) for the entire network for Summer 2016. If any new routes are to be launched at CWL, then they will have to either be W patterns, or another based aircraft. Our current E195's are utilised pretty highly, and all other E195's are already re-assigned for S16. Leaves potential for perhaps an extra E175 or Dash 8 to be based at CWL, but only Flybe will know whether that is viable. Find out soon i say !

That may be the case with the 2 based E195's, however that doesn't mean other based aircraft can't operate through on a "W" pattern.......plenty of scope then for new routes & destinations....

That won't happen, or I'll put it another way, I'll eat my hat if it does. Doing W patterns will involve nightstopping somewhere and I can't see that happening. There is very limited opportunity to operate a W pattern into CWL because we don't operate sunshine routes out of any bases apart from Exeter for next summer and they are already doing a W pattern from NWI, so unless an Ejet goes into SOU for the summer next year then expansion into Spain etc is very, very unlikely considering all the SOU based jet pilots have either moved base or they are on Dash courses.

It doesn't have to be the "sunshine" routes to AGP, ALC, PMI etc but could very well be into France such as EGC, NCE, BOD or LRH which would suit the "W" pattern with a Dash 8.....and are already served by BE or even more city destinations like TXL....will have to wait and see I suppose

I'm aware of that but in post #1943 from yourself you stipulated E195s. As you say, time will tell.

Was not expecting it to be VRN but at least shows BE commitment especially with no flights there ex BRS it may prove popular.....always was when European Air Charter and Thomson operated the charter flights there......Lakes & Mountain tour ops will no doubt sell it too so hopefully a good success.....plus skiing in winter if it goes year round

CWL had a weekly Verona charter flight in summer for many years until about ten years ago. The destination seemed to be long overdue for a return. I was also half expecting a French holiday route at weekends as well.

Incidentally, BRS does have a Verona route. For a number of years on summer Saturdays Mistral has operated for Thomson with a B 734 and Inghams sometimes charters its own flight as well (as in summer 2015 with bmi regional), and in other years takes seats on the Mistral flight.

BRS has also had a weekly ski season flight to Verona for many years.

Competition is never a bad things for us punters though.

Yeah I was really expecting a BOD, EGC, BIQ or LRH to be added into the route network ex CWL.

However great to see VRN back on the departure boards though....I remember EAF and their 1-11's doing the weekly Wednesday flight before TOM took it over and then switched to BRS.

Flybe have a big presence in SW France and would have thought one of those destinations would have fitted in quite neatly for them.....

Great to see both FAO & MXP increase to 4 per week too as well as the new VRN route.

Well done Flybe !!

CAA stats October

CWL saw a quite sensational percentage passenger numbers rise of 60.3% in October when 148,021 passengers passed through the terminal, an increase of nearly 56,000 passengers on October 2014.

This has taken the rolling 12-month total to 1,119,008 which is 7.5% up on a year ago and the highest 12-month rolling total since April 2012.

The bulk of the increase is due to the rugby world cup matches in the city that featured Ireland and France but, putting that aside, the rise for October is still appreciable and demonstrates the value of the Flybe base in getting bodies through the terminal.
