and Ryanair hit the lowest August load factor. Back in 2002 they where 95% full in August, in 2012 it is down to 88%. By January the loadfactors could be in the high 60%s
The hyper-lowcost model has had its day. Easyjet have fuller planes and are starting to allocate seats.

befree - perhaps another explanation is that in 2002, the economy was doing reasonably ok (at least compared to now), Ryanair had a much smaller fleet (so easier to cherry pick best routes), and with oil being much cheaper could afford to sell tickets at lower fares which led to higher demand and thus higher load factors ?

MOL's simple but great and catchy idea was to lure the passengers with extremely low prices. This idea, however, has had no continuation. The same brilliant MOL seems helpless while trying to fill planes after unavoidable price rises.

I'm with MOL on this one:
I can see the point about people who don't have access to printers, but when you make the booking, the terms are quite clear. It is a silly rule, but if you don't like Ryanair's games, fly easyJet and use their printer ink.
Asking MOL for a refund as a good will gesture is just a red rag to a bull!
Ryanair’s chief executive Michael O’Leary has slated a passenger who complained about the airlines’ excess charges on Facebook, calling her “an idiot who deserves to pay for her stupidity.”
After a flight last month from Alicante to Bristol, Suzy McLeod wrote an irate post on the company’s Facebook page after having to pay £236 to print out boarding passes for her family’s return home. More than half a million people have clicked their support.
Suzy McLeod did not have internet to print out the boarding pass at her remote villa but had saved the booking reference on her phone
However outspoken O’Leary slammed the “stupidity” of McLeod and said he will not be rethinking the added charges.

Mr O’Leary said that 99.98 per cent of Ryanair passengers print their boarding passes in advance: “To those who don’t, we say quite politely: ‘Bugger off’ ”. He added that Ms McLeod had written to him requesting compensation and “a gesture of goodwill”, and he had responded by saying: “It was your f**k-up”.

In 2002 FR carried less than 1.5 Million passengers in August, in 2012 its 8.9 Million or a growth rate of just under 20% per year, every year, every August............and they have supposedly have a problem ?
As for Jan load factors.....................want to put a wager on the high 60's load factors..............£100 that goes via Gift Aid.

Ryanair has a new booking app for iphone/ipad. The word is it has no captcha. Only 3 eur (yes, you have to buy it)
Ryanair's Low Fares Now Available On iPhone
Ryanair's Low Fares Now Available On iPhone
On iTunes and Android stores, are app vendors obliged to publish the number of times (to at least some approximation) that an app has been purchased, or is it purely voluntary to publish sales numbers ?
If it's compulsory, it would be interesting to look at the stats in a couple of months time
Out of interest, what happened to Ryanair's Bing application for PCs ? Did it get more than a trivial number of installs ? Was thinking of putting it on my PC, but thought it would probably contain some sort of malware that would mess up my PC so avoided it instead.
Yes, the one where they "borrowed" the accompanying text from Southwest's Ding

If the words above are true then surely share holders should question his state of mind and the lady should make a formal complaint for an offensive communication!
However, I thought I would contact WH Smith (who has retail units in all major airports here in the UK) and ask them to consider a ticket printing service for lets say (computer usage- electric-papers) £1.00 fee. That will put an end to one of these excess charging regimes by the flying coaches with wings and a tail attached.

You can't check in online with Ryanair less than 4 hours in advance. For an independent airport print out service to be useful commercially, one would have to complete online checkin and email the PDF of the boarding card to yourself, only to then retrieve the PDF at the airport for printing off.
When my printer broke the night before an early morning flight last year I had to rely on this but last minute printer failure is probably not very common amongst passengers.

That four hour bit neatly catches out anyone who has done everything they are supposed to and then finds that they have left their boarding cards behind in their hotel room (together with a carefully wrapped present for mother-in-law). Has to find 180 euros at the airport to get their family on the flight.
Of course I've never done that......

They could do the same with their passports and not be allowed to fly at all so if any essentials get left behind that's their problem not the airline's.
