I'm excited at the prospect of going on a 787 from BHX to Santorini next July.
Is the runway long enough at JTR for the Dreamliner?

I doubt it will be all year round. The weather in our summer can be quite awful. Having said that it doesn't stop operations to CUN in rainy season.

Stn-mbj is mainly a cruise charter for Thomson cruises, there will be some package only and flight only seats but the majority will be cruise seats

Thomson assemble and sell packages and sell a certain number of them - the may do 20 to the Riu Clubholel, 30 to Riu Palace, so many to Negril, etc.

Once they have sold that quota of packages - they may still have seats on the plane available and room in the hotels - but those seats and rooms have not been rolled into packages (the rooms may be in packages for Manchester flights, the seats in packages for Ocho-rios).

Some time down the line - someone will dismantle the unsold bits and make more packages of the types sold out - suddenly it's not all sold out anymore.

Thomson Airways 2015

From Thomson press release, they could be adding some new destinations for 2015 specifically long haul. The article says:

"All of the above destinations will be available in 2015, either by direct flight from the UK, or as part of Thomson Cruises’ programme."

http://press.thomson.co.uk/iceland-i...l-trends-2015/

Long haul:
  • Costa Rica – Green and lush Costa Rica is an adventure lover’s paradise. From November 2015 Thomson Airways is launching a new weekly service from Gatwick to exotic Costa Rica, which will be the only direct flight from the UK.
  • Aruba – white sandy beaches, gable topped houses, ramshackled bars serving fresh fish and cocktails, Aruba’s Dutch roots set it apart from other Caribbean islands.
  • Bonaire – one of the best dive and snorkelling destinations in the world. Shipwrecks, tropical fish and seahorses are ripe in the waters that surround the island.
  • Curacao – a mix of footprint-free beaches and pretty colonial town, this little colonial island in the Caribbean is slowly beginning to creep onto the tourist radar.
  • Goa, India – EDM (Electronic Dance Music) is taking this chilled out beach resort by storm, and this New Year sees the return of the globally famous Sunburn festival, making it the one of the hippest places to holiday next year. From November 2015 Thomson is adding 10 and 11 night holidays to Goa departing from Gatwick.
Short and mid haul:
  • Iceland – famous for boiling mud pools, spurting geysers, glaciers and waterfalls, Thomson has recently announced that it will be offering three or four night breaks to Iceland from January 2016.
  • Dalmatian Coast, Croatia – situated along Croatia’s Adriatic coast is home to clear waters, secluded coves and enchanting towns, including the vibrant city of Split, Dalmatian Coast is the place to go next summer for a short haul beach holiday.
  • Mykonos and Santorini – with boutique hotels, luxury villas and label-laden shops, stylish Mykonos and Santorini are Greece’s answer to St-Tropez.
  • Cyprus - a popular destination for years, attracting everyone from families to clubbers, Cyprus has invested heavily in tourism in recent years putting it firmly back on the list of ‘must visit’ holiday destinations next year.
  • Ibiza – regarded as the cool and hip party capital of the Med, Ibiza is fast becoming the fashionable destination for families looking for great accommodation in a laid back setting.
Also the current Thomson schedule requires 6-7 787 aircraft but Thomson will get an extra 2 for 2015 so some of the above could be added for 2015. Fingers crossed anyway.

MAN will also have 3 based 787 for next summer, 2 required from current schedule.....

787
So, by my calculations, with a 787 coming from Nordic, G-TUIG in Jan, and 2 more to be delivered by May, Thomson will have 10 787s for Summer 2015! Along with 4 767s staying, do they really need to fill that many seats on 14 wide bodies?

Now that she's back from Arke, why did they paint her in Thomsonfly.com colours? If they didn't want to go full dreamliner I'd have thought they would have just gone with "Thomson" and not the ancient thomsonfly?

G-BYAT
As Nick said, she's now repainted but still in blue. Albeit a nice new icy blue

It wasn't painted. Arke titles were removed, but I believe it's now been painted.

Is she now painted in the full Dreamliner livery then? She had Thomsonfly titles last I saw her in November.

Sorry to be posting questions like this but does anyone know which, if any, of TOM's routes to Madeira in April will be operated by 757's?

I just noticed that 787 G-TUIF, while positioning to Manchester after returning from Mauritius, has diverted to Luton. Anyone know why?
