Yes, a B737-800 can fly direct from DUB-SSH. Primera did it for a season or two.

DUB-SSH

Yes it was DUB-SSH and Futura flew that route for a while as well. The underload was usually well lets just say interesting.

BFS-SSH in a 738 im guessing would be pushing the limits of human endurance if no IFE. ECA did also several years ago do DUB-LCA-SSH, that may work ex-BFS as a tour operator could sell both.

These comments and similar do surprise me. I fly from time to time UK to Australia, and I can't remember the last time I even turned the IFE on. Headsets always get handed back still in their plastic bags. Looking around during the collection, I am by no means unique either.

I would agree with you to some point. With apple creating ever sort of media in your hand, less people will be using it.

However, if you look at the investment that airlines make in their hardware there is clearly a large percentage of passengers that use the services.

Maybe people giving them back in plastic bags is something to do with them using their own earphones (going back to my first point) or have earphones from previous flights?

Yes if it wasnt used, do you really think BA would have invested in new screens etc in New First, and keeping the IFE install on refurbished World Traveller ? Otherwise someone has done their sums wrong....

It is classed as a spotter question. This forum is about the routes and business aspects of the airline. Not specific flights, types or registrations. See the previous page (22) response 435 from one of the moderators regarding these types of questions.

Questions like these are best directed to your airline, travel agent, Spotter forum or something like www.holidaytruths.co.uk / www.tripadvisor.com

All inbound flights seem to be operating on time

Have noted on Gatwick Departures / arrivals last week and today a TOM 4236 / 4237 flight to / from Palma (out 0605, in 1210) If you look on the Thomson timetable on the website it only appears to offer 3 departures on a Tuesday (TOM 4230 (morning departure) TOM 4254 (tea time departure) and TOM 4274 (night time departure, new flight today)) is this 4th service operated on behalf of another Tour Operator ? I have just been taking a little more notice on Palma flights recently as I go there for a week at the beginning of August.

All of the ex First Choice aircraft are owned by Thomson, compared to the B752's which they used before the merge, which are leased. Expect the leased aircraft to be gone in the next 5 years, but the ex FCA B752's to be around for 8-10 years depending on the ages, e.g BC, BD, BE, BF (2003-2004) will most likely stay until 2020-2022

Does anyone know how long it will be until the remainder of the FCA a/c will be repainted into Thomson Colours? Its been a few years now and confuses the passengers on every sector operated by them presumably!

and since from a Tour Operator viewpoint the key brands are Thomson and First Choice, there is no major urgency. Even when they are painted, there'll then be lots of First Choice customers travelling on Thomson painted aircraft......

757's

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone know when thomson will have replaced all their 757's?

***well on the basis TOM has just added 2 "replacement" 757s to the fleet it's going to be not less than 7-10 years before the 757 leaves the fleet as a type. By that time TOM/BY/FCA/AMM will have been operating the type for in excess of 30 years!***

Chaps,
Point taken however, it is called THOMSON AIRWAYS and Not First Choice Airways. You are right, there is no great rush to spray them up but they are getting round to it . I guess the ones that are n't going to be sprayed are the ones that are going to be sent back to the lessors.
I have seen many passengers question the handling agents when they walk out to an EX FCA aircraft. They are also putting blue seats in them. I think that they are only recovering the old putrid green ones.
The 756 fleet next summer will be smaller than this summer.

well the first 2 of the FCA painted 763's are in the fleet til mid 2012 and the others til 2014, so there's a possibility of them flying about in FCA colours for another 4 years.....
