These Scottish pastures suit me nicely-thanks
Bypassed......don't make me laugh.....if you were as loyal a Scot as your title suggests you'd be hoping for local talent to shine through rather than see local lads bypassed for command in favour of foreign numptys.
(For non Scots readers 'numpty' is our chairman's favourite word for brainless idiots, usually from Sooth 'o the border)

Guys lets get this thread back on track and stop the handbag swinging.
As I know myself its a small crewroom in GLA was even smaller in Man when we operated the CPT So handbags down!

Mme Flights W08
So far released for MME:
FAO - Nov 08 only 1 flight, but more should be released. Looks like a based A/C.
PMI - Nov 08 only 1 flight
MME Winter should be released tomorrow.
Probably see: TFS, FAO, AGP, ALC, PMI, maybe a return for ACE.

Some mates due to fly from Glasgow to Orlando(think might be Sanford) tomorrow (17th) with globespan have just had a call to say the flight now departs 12 hours later due operational reasons -anyone in the know as to what those operational reasons might be?

Man we can't crew the aircraft we've got at the minute.
We may be able to fly ETOPS routes again....... but we can't fly any routes without crews........when will they learn.

A wee bird(unfeathered but flying)told me how she and 8 of her mates were sent to LHR to position out to YVR today.
Nothing strange in that you might say.........but they were cobbled together at the last minute because crewing 'forgot about cabin crew'.
An fgs aeroplane is in YVR with flight deck but no cabin crew. It was due to come back tonight.
The crew arrived into LHR too late for the flight to YVR so had to fly back to GLA.
The result.....aeroplane,flight deck and pax in YVR,cabin crew positioning out in the morning.....taking min rest and(another)delayed return to UK which then knocks on due no spare capacity, and on and on and on.
We're not even on the full Summer programme yet.
We've not enough crew and the few we do have wasted in senseless,on the cheap(position round the world to save a penny)trips which should've been factored in at the start! It's in the brochure,we're selling the trips, can't anyone in ops rostering or crewing read.....answer....no....cos they're all far too busy firefighting.
No point in asking anyone to get a grip, there's no one in Colinton with big enough hands for this job and GSM SCOT's delicate digits certainly aren't man enough!
Numptys,all bl**dy numptys eh Tom!!

SFB-GLA flight is delayed due to some ADs on the 767 being missed and inspections required. Apparently this is an issue with one of FGS' maintenance providers and not FGS itself but the inspections were needed as soon as the problem came to light. Understand that no issues were found but crew rest requirement then delayed the flight after the inspections had been completed. Unfortunate.

Crew Rest
Inaccuarate information Jimmy
The crew were not "Cobbled Together" as claimed. They were all rostered in advance to deadhead out to YVR via LHR.
The BMI flight down to LHR was delayed by 2.5 hrs which resulted in the crew missing their connecting flight out to VYR.
This is what has caused the delay in the YVR-YYC-GLA as the crew now need rest in YVR before operating home.
The SFB will operate today with a delay due to this but, as with the YVR and YYC passengers most have been informed yesterday about the delay, nothing to do with missed inspections.
The flight to YYC - YVR departed this morning at 11.18, 33 mins late.
There is plenty slack in the system to cover this as these two flights are the only ones affected.
The 767 operating these flights has downtime and not being used again till Tuesday when it will operate the GLA-SFB-GLA.
Not GSM'S fault the BMI flight was delayed. have you started a discussion yet on the BMI delay ?

GSM passing the buck again!!! Can you tell me GSMSCOT whose fault was the delay on 8.5.08 when a plane load of passengers arrived on time at Sanford to check in only to find out plane delayed for 9 hours because they were 1 crew member short (does GSM not have enough staff to cover flights and allow for staff sickness) someone else had been flewn in to cover but had to rest before he could commence work.
We were informed by staff at Sanford that GSM were paying them to keep the shops open and the food court and they also kept the royal palm lounge open till 1am (we ended up paying money to go in there to pass the long 9 hours) All these staffing costs appartently get charged back to GSM along with the $20 per person food voucher we got.
Surely GSM could come to some better solution staffing wise to have people on standby in Orlando so that these silly delays dont keep happening, surely it would cost GSM less to do this rather than to fork out money to pay airport staff along with the $20 vouchers.

GSM - interesting post about crew rest and nice to see GSM passing the buck again. However this has to be down to a lack of planning on GSMs part, why try and position crew out on the last possible flight?
Really how long can the fare paying public put up with this airline, lets hope the credit crunch can finally put it out of its misery. Hopefully then another loco can step into its shoes and give the people of Scotland the level of service they deserve.
