Mismanaged!

Callsign Kilo
The reason we lost the dual basing was that it should never have been applied to the people we recruited in the first place.....it was illegal then .....how can you ask a pilot or cabin crew member living in Greenock to report to Edinburgh within 90 minutes of callout......the CAA found out about it and dual basing, with a number of other approvals like ETOPS was lost.
The reason it changed from one interview to the other was the fact that someone in Colinton stood up to the bullsh*t long before your 2nd interview.....but (sadly)he ain't around anymore.
It doesn't take much to operate legally,it costs much more when the CAA find out and those approvals on which the flying programme is(falsely)based are lost.
All it takes is a bit of honesty and a realisation that we need more crew, and the crew we need need to be committed, local and treated properly.
Afinehelmet, chickenwings,GSM SCOT and all other management apologists please take notice.

How deep are Globespans pockets?

With the news of Silverjets shares suspended and oil still heading North of $125 pb the question is who's next? I am not for a minute suggesting it will be FGS, but rather a question of how big is their backing in £ terms, with a large % of their flights being long haul and even their short haul program starts 30 mins further North (fuel burn wise) of the Midlands/45 mins BRS/LGW they must have a much larger % of their costs oil based when compared to other airlines such as Jet2/Easy/baby/Ryan pro rata?

Ah, but we rather cleverly lease our aircraft out in the winter where there is much profit to be made with zero fuel risk!

Good point as long as you can lease them in a down turn at a profit, i guess delays to the dreamliner program will help with widebody shortage

With the leasing of a/c and the income of the entire Globespan Group plc is keeping Flyglobespan in the green zone when it comes to high oil prices. Though they did make a loss last year that was more to do with leased a/c and having to pay out vouchers to passengers etc.

Has the 752 already departed for LGW for tomorows LGW-YHM?

W08 schedule:
Is BFS-SFB returning for this winter? i would have thought the Tuesday flights from GLA would go via BFS.
Will YHM flights be kept going this winter?

G-CDKT - should be in the same state as she left. Operated by GSM pilots, GSM trained crew and engineering sourced by GSM. The a/c condition was not great when they went on lease to be honest!

It's a 736 just back from C check I guess, judging by gflynorw's post!

In reply to several posts

The B752 for the YHM service from LGW today, is still not at LGW, having only departed DUB with a charter to BRS at 1210, which it should have left at 1010, then positioned to LGW at 1210.

GCDKT returned to EDI yesterday from LFLX, having being out of service since November 08. It was stored in LPL for the winter.

GCDKD which is back in service for GSM, was out of service from August 08, where it was at SEN

Why is the Vancouver & Calgary flights from GLA always running hours late? Past couple of weekends its always been delayed for several hours

When will the 752 be getting ETOPS?

Have GSM made YHM a north American base? Found this article saying that they have spent around $200,000 putting in a ticket office and taking over all of there own operations.

A lot of people have been willing to give GSM the benefit of the doubt over their problems in the past, but reading this report I'm truly shocked.

Can anyone confirm this was one of the TF 752 a/c. The dispatchers here in STN used to call them Fireball 1 and Fireball 2, due to the amount of engines they blew. Still it helped pay the solicitors bill for my mates new house in Saffron with all the O/Time on engine changes he did at SRT !!

These were the 2 Icelandair A/C that have been returned to Icelandair last Summer. Report states that GSM expect to return to 3 daily flights to YHM from UK next year. Must have an order in for extra A/C.

Oh brilliant............ Yet more ammunition for the GSM bashers who want to see us all out of work

At least the long haul engineering issues have been dealt with now.

GSM have come a long way in putting in place the proper structure to deal with operations of the airline. GSM will be around for a long time yet. Pax numbers are at an all-time high. GSM have good cashflow as they lease out the A/C during quieter times, bringing in lots of cash to expand their own ops. TD is reported to be worth around £75m.

YHM has got off to a great start this year delays galore BFS-YHM delayed till 15.30 instead of 9.30.

Where does it say that flyglobespan plan to operate 3 daily flights to YHM next year?

Luvly Jubbly, please note that I am not slagging off GSM. Plenty on here who can do that.

I enquired if these were the TF registered a/c ( which Webby confirmed )because they had such a terrible reputation down here in STN last year and knowing that my mate had done 2 engine changes on them , why would anyone in the right minds ignore the MEL ?

FlyGlobespan To Be Prosecuted For Endangering Passengers

When will all these faceless individuals that continually carp on about how wonderful Flyglobespan is - finally wake up and smell the coffee??

According to the Sunday Times,
The airline was last week served three summons to appear before City of Westminster magistrates in July to answer criminal charges of endangering an aircraft and its passengers. The offence carries an unlimited fine.
And

It is understood that Dalrymple, who is worth £75m according to The Sunday Times Rich List, was interviewed under caution by the CAA in March.
The entire article is available here - http://business.timesonline.co.uk/to...cle3999421.ece

Seems that this matter will not be so easily explained away with the usual line of rubbish that is usually spouted off on these boards - Look forward to the hearing in July then!!!

Cheers

Scotty D
