EDI - ALC route not yet fully released - due to be released early next week.

Probably will be 5 weekly, but some will end up via GLA probably.

Yeh, me too, arrived back GLA this morning and apart from the atrocious IFE and a delay at BFS that brought us into Glasgow 45mins late, we found the inflight service, meals and all the CC to be excellent.

Proves that when used properly, GSM have a good product there.

Yeah, what was that all about, the captain and stewardess said it was a paperwork problem, we sat there twiddling our thumbs for ages.

It won't operate the HRG route - more likely a B738.

The B752 will be operating the SFB flight going out Tues AM, nightstopping in SFB Tuesday, returning with same crew Wednesday evening into Glasgow Thursday morning.

It may operate YHM weekly W08 from GLA. I think it's likely that a B738 will be wet-leased again for W08.

End in sight for GSM

The Air India ACMI was keeping this airline going. 1 x 757 & 2 x 767 doing GSM work is a sure "Start of the end," for Globespan.. I give it max 6 months[/B]: Enjoy while it lasts.

Why don't GSM fly more 767/757 long-haul routes from EDI? Is it because the runway at EDI is too short and restricts payload/range? Or is it lack of capacity in the international arrivals / departures area? Lack of suitable stands? Extortionate airport charges? Or just a perceived lack of demand?

Who gives a monkeys??

tano
You've just 'joined' on a contract.....why did you come.....the money right.....oh and don't forget the possibility of getting a command.......we are the only company to promote contractors.......really good way to build from within eh........don't bite the hand that feeds my friend.

GSM SCOT
Next time you speak to TD or B McL perhaps you'd make them aware that contractors don't give a stuff for their airline.
Pay peanuts the good monkeys leave.......and you get.......monkeys like Mr tano !

Not getting into a Glasgow vs Edinburgh r'way length debate, other carriers operate to the States from EDI so we could.
TD has talked of operating long haul from EDI but after the debacle that was last summer it was all about his company's survival.
If this summer goes ok it's very likely that Edinburgh will get a slice of the long haul cake but are there enough passengers to operate profitably from both....I don't think so.

Tano

How do you work out that the end is near for GSM. Very, very unlikely. I'm positive that GSM is cash-rich. Their ACMIs have been stopped for 6 months to operate their own programme. These A/C will all be going back to ACMIs in Winter. The B763 will be back at AI and one other will go to Oman Air.

GSM will be around for some time yet.

Winter 08 programme released today:
EDI-ALC 4 weekly
EDI-FAO up to 3 weekly, drops to weekly low-season

GLA-ALC 4 weekly
GLA-FAO up to 5 weekly, drops to weekly low season

Don't get in a tizzy-tano is one of the (many) johnny come lately pilots needed to keep the airline going......he knows nothing of it's history or TD's aspirations.....he does know that all our pilots are leaving to be replaced by mercenaries like him.
You may be right, GSM may be around for some time yet, but what sort of people will be driving the aeroplanes.....not locals like my buddies and me that's for sure.

That was a major attraction of GSM. Local bases for local crews. People who wanted to be there because Scotland was their home, where their familes and friends were. Correct me if I´m wrong, but this creates stability, no? Now contractors come in and piss off 6 months later without giving a rats ass about GSM. Great shame IMO. I will always be a supporter of the airline, regardless of the fact that I was dropped from their recruitment plans after SQ left.

Really sorry to hear that Callsign Kilo, a lot of us are where we are because SQ hired locally and promoted locally, it was his policy, the other guys didn't seem to care. He's moved on to better things, no cr*p where he is and pilots treated like professionals.
There is no recruitment plan just a finger in the dyke policy.....need pilots....get an agency pilot......local guys......naw we don't have any money to type rate them so we'll hire in agency pilots at inflated salaries.
It's not a policy to hold onto pilots, it's all about survival right now and if we survive it'll be because of local people like you who want to stay put in Scotland.....they'll be the backbone of the airline and it's about time TD, B McL, SS and their 'fleet managers' realised that!

Does anybody know how much longer Jet2 will get out of they're 733's before they will have to start replacing them?

GSM are at least better off that way most of there 737's being new except from 4 of them, granted most of them are leased.
