FLYGLOBESPAN is seeking a merger or acquisition to fuel further growth.
At last! Someone seeing sense then - I put exactly the above in a posting a few months back suggesting a partnership with Jet2 and was set upon by Yorkshire Spotters!!!!

Mr Meesons number at LBA is 01132...

If there was a merger beetween Jet2-Flyglobespan would it be better to merge to become Flyglobespan, Jet2 or a completly different name altogether and were would the main offices be Leeds or Edinburgh?

If easyJet went into Glasgow and Edinburgh on more of flyglobespans routes, they would be dead in a year, that withstanding, who would want to become part of that risk?

FR hit 2 more of GSMs routes in EDI from September.

AGP/PMI

FR already operate to ALC

FR will only be operating 4 times max per week on the routes, and not daily. If FR keep the routes going in the winter, they will eat GSM, who tend to operate double drops from GLA/EDI

i think if there was to be a merger the jet2 name would stay and the globespan name would be dropped

i dont think jet2 would go through with it if it meant they would loose their name

If we did merge! we would be better keeping the Jet2 name! as it has a better reputation at the Mo! and the main offices would have to be leeds as it would be the main base still! most routes and aircraft! i think it would be risky to merge! but if anyone could help GSM i think Jet2 would be a good partnership!

Any truth to the rumour that Globespan's AOC is on a one month rolling review by the CAA Ops Inspector?

From what l have heard l am surprised it was not pulled a month or more ago after the CAA impounded the B736 in LPL.
I can not understand how this airline has been allowed to keep going and how it got it's ETOPS approval in the first place over its lack of engineering organisation.
However it is know on the right track after getting Monarch aircraft engineering involved with there maintrol and with ex TCX engineering experience coming on-board and setting up at MAN. I guess with this and the new man in charge it will satisfy the CAA and that they now have the quality to control things and get their ETOPS back.

Getting Back on Track

I think you are right Rick Green will add some weight to the airline and stear them back on track.
Engineering is the weakness at EDI & GLA and needs to be tightened up quickly.

I am sure if the hangar being built in either of the stations will ensure smarter engineering and servicability of aircraft as they could stock parts and save delay situations awaiting AOG`s. (Storm just need fresh senior managment) and all should be well.

Jet2K,

Merge..and rename airline...Channex....move head office to BOH !!!!!

But would Dame O still be a Mngr or become an Ops boy under Steve O !!

Interesting S08 ahead for Globe then...Me thinks certain peeps would rather see them go bust than merge, then pick up the cheap airframes and pilots..

I am tentatively thinking of booking with gsm at the end of this month to SFB. ANy news of their reliability this year? The price is about 50% of the continental fare so is good value, just worried a serious delay will affect me getting back home and to work on time. Any info on recent delays (if any) and which type of aircraft they are using on this route appreciated. Also does their IFE use single or double jack headphones as I maybe able to take my own and save a few quid.

Thanks

Smith

ps upshot of this post, is it advisable to use gsm or would anyone advise CO instead

Talking

we fly with them in june and its a 767,i think its the 757 till middle/end of may,The earphones are complementary as they only do a 2 class service, premium economy and business,P.E means youll get standard seats just the same but with the P.E service not unless you pay £25 for extra leg room. They must be doing ok as the forums have went quite quiet on the delay side of things because when they have a delay even not a bad one it gets posted.Hope this helps

Delays have been minimal and flight delays are improving. The B752 will operate until May 2008, and then the B763ER will take over as of 24th May. GSM are getting their reputation back and have got some excellent fares just now.

In 2005 GSM had very little experience of longhaul/midhaul range routes - now we've got SFB/YYC/YVR/SSH/YHM and other routes that we have operated successfully. I'm sure they'll be introducing hot meals and service just like the EDI-SSH route.
