By looking at the flight arrivals page on Manston's website it looks as if they took No diversions from the snow fall.
Correct me if I'm wrong and having driven passed the airport last night it was not hugely affected by snow as the rest of the SE on the drive into London seemed.
Why is it that with Manston being so ideally placed to handle such incidents over the last two days that this hasn't happened? Surely with the lack of anything landing there these days it should be jumping at the chance to handle some diverts.
Again please correct me if I am wrong on any of the above.

thanet area wasnt hit too hard by the snow, apart from some isolated spots,
however we should congratulate the ground staff for clearing the airrport so efficiently, i couldnt believe that gatwick and stanstead had to close for so long with all their resources, well done people, but why didnt they get any diverts ?

It's ten days since my original post about the future of Manston as an airport and whilst I had one reply which may or may not turn out to be true, I'm surprised that nobody else has sprung into action to either defend or disassociate themselves with the airport. Is this just indicative of the lack of interest in general or is this perhaps not the correct forum?

QTE we just sit here waiting QTE for what though? EUjet was a totally misconceived project and there is no obvious catchment area. I ask the question again. What lies ahead for Manston? There must be a purpose for it to serve if not then it's owners need to take the hit.

CEO leaves Manston
The chief executive of Manston’s Kent International Airport is leaving his role.
After three years, New Zealander Matt Clarke has decided to return home in March, but he is staying with the Infratil group, which owns the airport.
He said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the UK and particularly my work at KIA.
“The airport has a very committed team of skilled people and it has been a privilege to work with them to provide services to such a wide range of aviation-users.
“From 747s to single-seaters, fighter jets and Spitfires, you see the full array of aircraft types here and I’ll miss that variety.
“It’s the right time for us to head home, though, with our second child due in May and we are looking forward to getting back to New Zealand to spend more time with our family.”
Mr Clarke is to be replaced by Tom Wilson, the chief executive of Infratil Airports Europe, for an interim period.
He will take over management responsibilities at Manston while a permanent replacement is sought.
Mr Wilson said: “Matt has done an excellent job at Manston, working with the Kent-based team to develop the services we offer to our customers and preparing the airport for the exciting growth ahead.
“The airport is in great shape, showing consistent and impressive growth in cargo throughput and with the future for the rest of the business clearly laid out in the Airport Master Plan.
“We wish Matt all the best for his return to New Zealand as he transfers to another more senior role within the Infratil Group.
“We are anticipating further growth in our passenger and cargo business at KIA in 2010 and we will continue to work with the local community to ensure that the airport develops in line with the needs of Thanet and Kent.”

So do they bother unlocking the terminal doors during the day or has the building been abandoned until the summer when the airport gets an occasional weekly passenger flight?

Infratil's report for December:
December freight volume at KIA was 3,674 tonnes, 1,120 tonnes (44%) ahead of December 2008 and consistent with the strong freight results achieved at the airport during 2009. For the nine months of the financial year to date cargo traffic was more than double the 2008 total and 28% ahead of the comparative period in 2007.
