I tried calling the reservations section and they have been quite unhelpful, just saying that I will receive the refund in due course with no timescale, it has exceeded 28 days already.

The reservation section seems closed on Saturday and there is always a long queue. Do you have an alternative phone number?

I wish I was a gold card member as the rapid response sounds fantastic!

Thanks again.

Sorry to hear that Welshtraveller,

Its strange for Aer Lingus not to be proactive in this regard. At any rate, please try the Gold Circle department and explain your situation, ie. that you have been waiting for more than 28 days for a refund at this point. Quote your original reference number on the phone and the segment(s) that you could not take because of a closure of the airspace.

To call from the UK: 0871 718 5555

Let us know how you get on,

Regards,

EI Premier

Welshtraveller, I hope you got through to the gold circle dept.

I think it may be a case of holding on, I would imagine that the refund dept is very busy at the moment having to go through, administor and process all of the refunds from the volcano dissruption/s. It is not in the nature of EI to withhold your refund, just that they, like other carriers will be very busy with the pure volume of refund requests.

I know they have even hired and re-deployed extra staff to help work through the back log of refunds.

At the moment the Aer Lingus Regional fleet consists of....

4 ATR 72-500 A/C

+ A further 3 of the same type a/c on order with 1 of them due in July to launch SNN base so we can expect more new routes this year also....

The current Regional fleet is actually 4 ATR 72-500's. As far as I know they are going to use 1 of the leased ATR 72-212's that are being leased from Air Contractors for this.

Though I stand to be corrected on this.

This is all good news though. Wonder what phase3 of the agreement will bring.

In responce to one of the above remark's....

the leased Air Contractors ATR-72/212 A/C is being used so that all other a/c used in mainline RE operations can be refurbushed mainly the ATR-42/300's .... RE have being storing their new ordered ATR's but they are now on the way..

Kavs8,

I hope this is true. I recently flew on CPT and BYO and both aircraft were in need of some TLC from a passengers / customer perspective. The interior of BYO in particular was very poor. While not affecting the aircraft itself, such old and worn interiors let the airline down.

As an aside, great news with Phase 2. Long may it continue.

All the best,

P2C

I don't remember a proper announcement.

There's a bit of blurb in this month's Cara about it.

Putting out a press release is one of the cheapest forms of advertising, so not doing a proper announcement is pretty poor.

There was no announcement but on last week's Sunday Independent there was the usual Aer Lingus ad' page with all the ''New'' Canadian routes on there u cant really expect Aer Lingus to market routes that are connections!

Bye the way ive got my hands on EI's transatlantic loads per flight BELOW:

DUB-BOS: 77%
DUB-JFK: 74%
DUB-MCO: 81%
DUB-ORD: 71%

SNN-BOS: 75%
SNN-JFK: 73%

Not to bad considering back in 08' when JFK from SNN was struggling to break 60%! ...

Nice new app on the Aer Lingus website : Aer Lingus - Where do you want to go?

Dublin-Hamburg is now year-round also operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays! no doubt due to Ryanair's pull out nd the German himself Mr.Mueller
