Hi all,
My local paper today is reporting flybe have dropped NWI - AMS. This is a real shame, as I use them regularly and think the service is vastly superior to the KLM offering. Thanks to the excellent cabin and cockpit crew, ill miss your nice airplanes and friendly service when im stuck on KLM

yep sadly they droped it last Thursday, but when i flew on it there were only about 30 pax on so if that was always the case then i can see why they had to axe it.
and this means that thats another route gone from NWI, now only 8 this summer, getting less and less each year.
Anyone think that NWI - BRU would be a good idea for them. As ryanair are closing there route in March from STN, there wont be any airlines operating from LTN or STN.

I haven't heard the rumour but it makes sense, and they have just acquired pairs of morning and evening slots from German Wings. Not to mention the possibility of having a spare E195 if it can't operate to GCI.

Are you talking about STN? This would surprise me as I am not aware that Germanwings is axing any STN flights.

LGW to the South West
On local news last night it was announced that Flybe have slots to use out of LGW and are currently considering which SW aiport to operate to. Is this likely to be direct ASW competition to NQY with a combined EXT service?

personally i found feel that they would be more likely to be used on a route with less competition

Another brand new flybe route from jersey for summer 2008
10 January 2008
Low cost airline reinstates Jersey’s Welsh connection
Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has announced a further expansion of its summer service out of Jersey with a three times weekly route to Cardiff in a move that reflects its commitment to enhancing its Island service as well as re-instating the Island’s Welsh connection.
The new service operates Mondays and Fridays effective March 17 as well as on Saturdays between May 24 – September 27. Flights are available now for booking in time for travel over Easter with lead in fares from £29.99 one way including taxes and charges.
This latest announcement will provide even more choice for reliable, low-cost services from Jersey. The addition of this route follows hot on the heels of Flybe’s announcement of an enhanced summer route network from Jersey that now includes Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle as well as Paris.
Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer, Flybe comments: “Our new route from Jersey sees Flybe confirming its commitment to the Island and further promoting the growth of regional air travel especially in when compared to other airlines which recently withdrew from a number of strategic routes to and from the Island.
“We see our new Cardiff service as a natural addition to our newly established route network out of Jersey and we are confident that another alternative destination can only be positive news for Islanders both in terms of business and leisure travel.
“As Europe’s largest regional airline, we will continue to explore all possibilities for expanding our services, anticipating the needs of the travelling public and adapting and enhancing our services in response to what our customers want.”
Perhaps not what you had in mind?

By introducing say a 3 times daily LGW NQY service, Flybe would seriously undermine WOW on their core route and this could potentially have implications for PLH airport. That maybe Flybe's reasoning for looking at NQY LGW, and possibly for considering LGW EXT, if that is infact true.

Couldn't help noticing this extract from the statement above, re the new JER-CWL route:
"This latest announcement will provide even more choice for reliable, low-cost services from Jersey. The addition of this route follows hot on the heels of Flybe’s announcement of an enhanced summer route network from Jersey that now includes Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle as well as Paris."

See the FlyBe press release on their web site re Jersey-Cardiff has now been amended to remove references to Paris etc viz:
Ho hum. In my day that would have been a P35 moment (or was it P45..)
