Angel Will it Happen for Guernsey

Is there still some doubt about the EMB195 operating in and out of Guernsey? We have heard Embrear have done there figures but has it got the seal of approval from you know who?

In JER, plenty of pax would shift to BA to simply fly on a jet
I agree, however, I hear on the grapevine that BA are pulling off the JER-LGW route.

As far as GCI goes it'll be there next year apparently...but for how long!

Supply and demand - the route is predominantly charter meaning that effectively the flight is already booked up and so at present only higher fares are available direct from Flybe -check a travel agency rate but you may have to book a full holiday

"Training Purposes"

I note that the FlyBe Customer Call Centre was closed "for training purposes" between 1 and 2pm on Wednesday 19th December.

What type of training was undertaken

- mince pie consumption?
- Having-a-small-sherry-with-the-MD projects?
- photocopying boobs techniques?
- snogging her from Personnel in the broom cupboard (advanced)?

Anyone care to spill the beans? Hope it was a good party (sorry, training course) anyway!

...and if it was, good luck to them, and I hope the party went well.

Happy New Year to all at Flybe!

Would everyone join me in congratulating LGS6753 for noticing, 8/9 days afterwards, that the Flybe Call Center was closed for a whole hour Stop everything and get it in the papers!

Oh and FYI - there was no Christmas Party in the Call Center, it was held at the Exeter University.............

I would have thought an hours closure would go unnoticed

Does anyone know how many Q400's Flybe will have once all orders (and options if necessary) are delivered.

I note that the eco-friendly ones (G-ECO_) have started arriving.

Eco-friendly?

We really do have problems when an airline feels the need to describe it's aircraft as 'eco-friendly'. PC and Green politics have a lot to answer for

The chairmans statement from November indicates 60 Q400's when the EMB145 substitution programme is completed in 2009, plus 5 more firm orders for growth, making 65 in total.

http://www.flybe.com/pdf/chairmans_statement2.pdf

I'm sure there are more options out there too, but I can't find any mention of these. Jethro's UK airline fleets shows 15 options.

S78 - not able to answer the question then

Tonyq - Ahh thanks for that, wow thats quite a few Q400s in our skies then. I hope they increase their orders to E195's at some point as they are great aircraft to fly.....

ADC2604 - the same document shows 16 firm orders for EMB195's, giving a post integration fleet of 76 a/c.

Hopefully, by the time they are all delivered, we'll have one based here in IOM for the LGW service. We will shortly be the only Q400 route to Gatwick, once they get 195's on Guernsey and Inverness.

I asked in you November

"As an aside ...what is your experience with the day to day flying/controlling of these aircraft?."

No E195 currently planned for IOM, and it would appear that the proposed GCI 195 has been torpedoed due to the inadequate load-bearing capability of the runway which would limit operations to 39.5 tons as I understand the situation.

Terrible waste of a very capable aeroplane running relatively low-level, short routes.

"...........it would appear that the proposed GCI 195 has been torpedoed due to the inadequate load-bearing capability of the runway............"

That may well explain why the JER based 195 does JER-LGW-IOM-LGW-JER, while an IOM based Q400 does IOM-LGW-JER-GCI-LGW, each Saturday of the winter schedules. It's not about bringing the 195 to the IOM, rather keeping it away from GCI !
