Thanks for the info. I flew on 9A-CTH last year, would have popped down to CWL to see it depart if I'd known earlier.

Flybe at CWL winter 09/10

The Flybe web timetable is still showing the morning EDI departing EDI at 0700 arriving CWL at 0825 and then returning to EDI. The morning GLA leaves GLA at 0700 carries on to CDG before returning to GLA via CWL.

As has been said there is no obvious path for a CWL-based aircraft in the Flybe winter timetable from CWL as currently published.

Perhaps OliWW would like to give us CWL-watchers an insight into his assertion that there will be a based DH4 this winter and how the aircraft will be utilised, and perhaps planenut might like to bring us up to date with his assertion that there are flights departing CWL at 0700.

Changes – PMI now seasonal with WW

In my opnion this shows the problems that the airport is facing and that TOM has no intentions of making a retern soon. The biggest shock is flights on a saturday finish at 16:40!!

Thats no shock, Sat flights have finished around this time for the past 2 yrs. I think its latest was 1740 to JER.
Sat will also see 2 TOM ski flights. (CMF/INN) One of these 3 sat TOM flights will be a W pattern.

Thanks planenut for doing this. It's a real shock to see so few flights with TOM, fewer than W08/09. Will be intersting to see if TCX have more flights next winter and maybe TCX will take over as the main charter airline at CWL

Thumbs up TOM w09/10

Does anybody know how the TOM flights from BRS next winter compare to this past winter? I doubt that it shows much change. The top management at the merged TOM/FCA are ex FCA and they have a long association with BRS going back to the days of Air2000 and beyond. They have always favoured BRS over CWL and the trend continues.
It would be great to see Thomas Cook develop their program from CWL and hopefully re-introduce the Orlando/Stanford route.

The TOM Brs and Cwl winter 09/10 timetable is very similar with Brs only having ten departures per week for TOM so quiet at both bases for this winter. However TOM have an adhoc cruise program at CWL. TOM management is mostly ex FCA however both brands are still being sold, so although First Choice holidays has a strong presence at BRS Thomson Holidays still has a strong and loyal customer base for CWL, the only difference is customers are now flying on one branded airline as Thomson Airways.

W10...

Thanks Planenut for the obvious hard work you put in getting your info re W10 together. It is, I'm sure, much appreciated by most Ppruners who haven't got the time or sources to do it themselves but will make use of it in many ways to suit their business needs; ie off - airport support companys.
( I have spell checked this message just in case anyone wishes to have a go at me too !!! ).

I agree with Mr Gittins - Thanks Planenut, it is appreciated.

Perhaps somepeople on here should learn some manners and netiquette. Mistakes do happen - it's not the end of the world.

Thanks arfortune and mrgittins And I totally agree that one mistake is not the end of the world. It was obvious T6 was meant to be T3 and TXC was TCX! Some people need to grow up, yes that was directed at Wellington Bomber, whose big writing just made him prove himself to be more petty that I originally thought.

TOM

Thanks to Planenut 321 too for the info but lets not waste our time unduly criticising ourselves but try and find some postitive news for our dwindling airport!
Is it a single based 738 or 752 for TOM this coming winter. What will BRS have there for the winter?

I hope too that TCX will move in and kick the unreliable and inconsistent TOM up the back side....cant believe how they change their commitment so much at CWL. Mind you,I will be only too happy to see them increase again for S10!

Cant get much on here from those on the inside at TCX as to their possible plans at CWL....any one know?

Whilst i agree its sad that the airport is loosing flights constantly lately, at the end of the day, the airlines are businesses! If somethings not working, drop it! Which baby seem very good and living up to.

The TOM program was never huge during the winter. I believe its going to be a 737-800. But despite losing an aircraft, they are only dropping 4 flights. FNC has already been dropped, FUE will go, the Thurs LPA and Sun TFS.
LPA will still operate on a Mon, and TFS on Tues/Fri.
Bearing in mind Thurs LPA and Sun TFS were always sold as "Lo-Cost flights", which TOM are moving away from.
IF Thomson were to expand further next summer, it would probably mean new routes. They've given up on the high fequency flights to move back to charter selling. Last year saw daily PMI, high freq AGP/ALC/FAO, which gave a 3rd aircraft the work.
Some more destinations like MIR/SKG/LXR/AYT are a possibility.
(2 of which TCX have already muscled in on!)

As for TCX, a few weeks back their website were selling some holidays for next summer, but were quickly taken off. The routes on sale were to Greek destinations, with exactly the same timings as this, and past years. So unless they are changing things behind the scenes before they go on sale again next month, the insight i noticed shows the same flights.
With TOM dropping an LPA/TFS and FUE completely, it could give TCX the scope to keep the A321 based at CWL for the winter.

With TOM dropping FNC, but TCX starting MIR, the number of routes operated by the charters hasnt changed. Its just the frequencies we wont see as much of.
