Real Radio ads...
Agree that the current ads are good to hear, albeit from 2010 - but along with the rather expensive looking (and tacky !) Tom / TCX ads which have been running since Christmas, there appears to be a concerted, if not planned jointly, effort to get the new image across along with the press locally for the terminal upgrade. They should use the Ryder Cup as a vehicle to promote CWL as much as possible too. The airport itself has to get the message across, which it seems to be starting to do and airlines doing their bit to sell holidays at the same time hopefully will fill S09 with longer term benefits towards S10 and beyond.

Winter 09/10
Even though summer hasn't even started. Its interesting to look at next winters program so far.
Looks like only 1 based a/c for TOM.
TCX schedule is similar to this years, however also includes SSH on a Fri. The route that was planned for this year before XL disappeared from the skies!
As for Canada. This was a viable option for TCX to operate and was being looked into. Whether anything will come of it next year, who knows.
As already stated, Highland wont increase capacity due to the passenger tax implemented on 18/19+ seats, even though its the assembly themselves who have requested more capacity!
I'm sure if the cash was given to them, Highland would increase capacity. But they are not a company to take risks.

bmibaby has added a new destination - Grenoble for the winter; finally some ski flights other than Geneva. Would be good to see Milan -Bergamo and Toulouse back.

I have noticed that at the moment the following WW S09 routes are not bookable for W09
Almeria
Barcelona
Jersey
Mahon
Murcia
Palma de Mallorca
im not sure if there is a seccond phase to be released and not seen the amount of rotations per destonation but on the face it looks quite poor with them advertising only 7 destinations being served.
With a bit of luck we may see another new destination but we just have to wait and see.

what happened to FFB?
Last I heard, their MD has taken a job as Commercial Director at Silver Air in the UAE.
Maybe they are waiting for financial & market conditions to improve and finding work elsewhere in the meanwhile

Servisair Cardiff to close
Thought i should post this here as well. (as posted in the Flight/Ground Ops sub forum)

No annoncement has yet been made with regards to any ‘new’ companies taking over or where the current TOM/TCX business will go.
Wish all the staff the best of luck and hope they can all transfer to a new company…whoever that may be.
Note: At the time of writing Servisair Cargo plan to stay.

NEVAR say No Need for Airport Road
NEVAR (No Ely Valley Airport Access Road) is opposed to the construction of a new road through unspoilt countryside in the Ely Valley, from junction 34 of the M4 to Cardiff Airport.
This road has been part of the Assembly’s plans to improve access to Cardiff Airport.
Our arguments against it can be found at www.nevar.co.uk.
Information revealed during pre-consultation into the planned major expansion of Bristol Airport includes the airport’s own transport assessment, showing that ‘the highway network can safely accommodate the increase in traffic’ that would result.
An expanded Bristol Airport would, of course, generate substantially greater traffic than Cardiff Airport does.
Access to Bristol Airport is either by a relatively tortuous urban route or along narrow country lanes.
This further demonstrates that there is no need for £140 million being spent on a new road to provide improved access to Cardiff Airport.
We say that if any investment is to be made into road construction, then alleviation of the problems experienced by people travelling east/west between Barry and Cardiff should be the priority.
This would not be achieved by a north/south route to the M4.
Michael Jones, Peterston-super-Ely, Chairman, NEVAR

NEVAR not in my back yard anyway!
Another NIMBY group with a catchy name NEVAR. Presume this 'chairman' and his group of followers would be happy to see the airport ploughed over, and houses built in it's place..... NOT.
How about a WIND FARM instead or better still a NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
Anything that keeps his little suburban life style in a manner he sees fit and doesn't errode his surroundings, whilst he pops up to Heathrow and jumps on a plane

1) Yep 2 diverts this morning, presumabley bad weather in LHR. One was a 744 from Rio de Janerio and the other was a 772 from Houston. Both came in at 7:30ish and departed at 10:00.
2) Yes Almeria has gone. WW did another Lisbon due to poor booking numbers. But apparently flights to Faro this summer have gone up by 1 a week to 4 to fill one of the Almeria slots.
3) It because there is no big news at the minute. Apart from the last flights by TOM to Funchal and Fuerteventura when this week. Sad times but atleast TXC still do Fuerteventura. Also Aberdeen started but i don't even think that was full as seats were avaliable up till 24 hours before. Lets hope that lasts

As planenut321 says there aint been much happening and as usual its rarely positive news at CWL.....WW cancelled yet another route that didnt get off the ground.I think its only a matter of time before thyey reduce to 2 based aircraft. Mind you we now have a new route to ABZ....yipee!
I understand that TOM have announced thier long haul for S10....anything for CWL as some have predicted on here? I doubt it...but hope to be proved wrong.
