Whilst i agree its sad that the airport is loosing flights constantly lately, at the end of the day, the airlines are businesses! If somethings not working, drop it! Which baby seem very good and living up to.
The TOM program was never huge during the winter. I believe its going to be a 737-800. But despite losing an aircraft, they are only dropping 4 flights. FNC has already been dropped, FUE will go, the Thurs LPA and Sun TFS.
LPA will still operate on a Mon, and TFS on Tues/Fri.
Bearing in mind Thurs LPA and Sun TFS were always sold as "Lo-Cost flights", which TOM are moving away from.
IF Thomson were to expand further next summer, it would probably mean new routes. They've given up on the high fequency flights to move back to charter selling. Last year saw daily PMI, high freq AGP/ALC/FAO, which gave a 3rd aircraft the work.
Some more destinations like MIR/SKG/LXR/AYT are a possibility.
(2 of which TCX have already muscled in on!)
As for TCX, a few weeks back their website were selling some holidays for next summer, but were quickly taken off. The routes on sale were to Greek destinations, with exactly the same timings as this, and past years. So unless they are changing things behind the scenes before they go on sale again next month, the insight i noticed shows the same flights.
With TOM dropping an LPA/TFS and FUE completely, it could give TCX the scope to keep the A321 based at CWL for the winter.
With TOM dropping FNC, but TCX starting MIR, the number of routes operated by the charters hasnt changed. Its just the frequencies we wont see as much of.
