I'm not sure, but i can see some area's cordoned off in short stay car park.
Does anyone know whats happening by the bus stop outside the terminal. Work being carried out, cordoned off by with blue boards.
In regards to the new airport police station, where will that be situated?

they are still selling on the website with some very very good fares so doubt thr rumour is true. Wouldn't make sense to stop flying for a month, still have to pay crew etc unless they are getting another airline in to do the flights if theirs is due for maint.

BAMC, 74's...
I heard that the majority of the BA a/c were in for safety certification. With Xmas coming up, they'll soon be flying again, real downturn kicking in Jan/Feb as usually quiet during this time anyway.

Lack Of Charter Capacity To Meet Demand At Brs
I note on the BRS thread that there is concern by management of a lack of charter flights to meet demand following the loss of XL and they are actively seeking replacements. BRS passengers could always come across the bridge (as I often have to do for opposite reasons) and fly from CWL!
We have extra capacity this winter for the canaries with TCX- as a matter of fact, how are these yields doing for TCX?
BRS imply shortage of seats in particular to SSH; CWL never got their XL winter flight replaced- why? Could we have filled this with punters from BRS?
I hope yet again that CWL don't lose out on seizing opportunities where BRS seem,as always, to be up the front.

CWL/BRS (Again!)
TCX were the charterer for XL at both BRS and CWL, and a number of other airports. I believe XL were actually going to base the a/c in SSH for the winter TCX charter.
Obviously BRS has always had a larger following than CWL for egypt through XL. I'd probably say that it was down to Jet2 a/c availability and BRS being the better option for TCX.
TOM still operate to SSH, but the flight is capped to approx 210 (rather than 235) which TOM fill by themselves. During the summer the flight could operate full as it was operated on the long range 757, which is not sent to CWL through the winter.
I dont think anyone on this site can really speculate on yields. In terms of pax figures though most TCX flight are operating quite full.
As for BA G-NBLB/-LC that are currently parked on Echo are due to be, or have been taken out of service to be scrapped and parted out.

G-BNLB / C due to be joined by G-BNLA are to be parked for the winter only. The rumour from anoracks.net about parting out is apparently bollocks.

Wouldn't it have been better to have the aircraft parked on Taxyway G rather than E?
Main reason for this being that E has always been used for any large aircraft diversions but unless we have a bar for them then it will not be possible.
The other issue is RBS Six nations, Taxyway E and BAMC has been used in the past for the rugby uplift. Unless the aircraft dissapear or re-positioned by then i'm sure that a sagnificant capacity and revenue will be lost.
I am interested in anyones views on this.

The problem with parking 2 747s on G is it would block G for aircraft from the southside. We now operate a one way system southside, so aircraft either enter the runway at H and vacate at G or vice versa depending on the runway in use. Maybe also because it could be perceived as less secure, harder to see over to G than E.
Six nations isn't at Cardiff until 21st March, I'm sure they will have gone by then.
Also G is used for remote parking for aircraft, So parking aircraft on G would mean EGFF would be limited if we needed to park something away from the terminal.

8th of Feb is the first 6 Nations match for wales away to Scotland. This is the reason i am worried about the aircraft remaining. It would be harder to park Rugby uplift aircraft over on G as this would require all personel that need to drive over to Golf to either have a Blue Permit or to be escorted by somone who has.
Any info on current works at CWL and work on the NCP car park?

It's the capacity and loss of revenue im more worried about rather than parking arrangements, we need to be looking at increasing capacity for such events rather than reducing them.

With regards to the 747 over BAMC, i was speaking to an engineer over there and he was saying that there only parked up for roughly 60 days, origanlly he said they were bringing anything up to 8 747 to CWL,he also stated that BAMC were looking at the possibilty of an extra bay put in to accomodate the A380??
TOM flight yesterday was due to an hydrolic leak, they flew the pax up to LGW on the FCA 757 and put them in an hotel for the night and are due to leave for TFS at 1000 today....first they had no crew, then flight deck went out of hours, hence why they went to LGW.
Please correct me if this is incorrect.
Boyyo.

From what I witnessed, the TOM 757 went tech after boarding was complete, all passengers baggage offloaded. An FCA 757 ferried in ex DUB to take the passengers onto TFS. However then realised "oh we are a crew member short". 90 odd passengers then re-booked onto the TCX A320 to TFS and the remainder were checked into LGW thinking they were off to TFS.
Bit of a fun night for the Servisair staff !!!
Agree with Mather - the BA 747's need to be moved to free up Echo. With winter season here, all we need is fog at LHR & LGW and both Aviance and Servisair will have BA, Virgin, United etc all trying to fight for stand 6 - which will be the only stand capable of parking wide bodied aircraft.
Also with the Six Nations coming up, there are already x3 A330's with Aer Lingus booked in !!!!
The handling agents need these stands to maximise their £££££ during te quieter winter months !
