Do go. It was our first time there and we'll definitely return. We stayed in Playa Blanca which has some lovely beaches and a frequent ferry service to Fuerteventura. It only takes half an hour so you can spend a full day there. The Aer Lingus flight was great. Wendy who was in charge of the cabin crew on both the outbound and inbound sectors remembered us when we boarded the aircraft at Arrecife. Only thing is they don't have any IFE so if it's really important to you use the Thomas Cook flight. I think it operates weekly.

Back recently from ACE myself with Aer Lingus. Flew out on the 5th March, back on the 12th. Flight down to ACE only took 3hrs 30 due to strong tail winds, which more than made up for the delay due to the snow that morning, knock-on effect with Munich arrival. Not sure whether its the time of year or not, but both flights were like flying nurseries, got my seatback kicked the entire flight out, and on return, a couple of children cried (and yelled) the entire flight home. Nothing to do with Aer Lingus, but it was getting a little painful near the end. Calpol!!!! lol. First time with Aer Lingus and pretty impressed, clean aircraft, professional staff, no cause for complaint in that regard.

Agree with you regarding IFE though. Travelled with TCX to Brescia at the end of January, and even on a shortish flight, was good to squeeze in a movie. Was it rumoured that Aer Lingus may get some A320's equiped with IFE to be used on longer flights???

Scottravel Holidays are using Saga Airlines for their season long flights to Dalaman from BFS, Thursdays. Any word on the aircraft type to be used, anyone heard of them, used them before???

08 September 2009
1250
Depart Belfast
Flight No. SGX2104
1920
Arrive Dalaman

15 September 2009
0710
Depart Dalaman
Flight No. SGX2103
1150
Arrive Belfast

Appear to have a fleet of A310's, B737-400's and B737-800's, although a quick search seems to show these aircraft are on lease to Air Algerie and Ariana Afghan Airlines. Any information???

Saga Airlines

First, it'll be nice to see something different at BFS for the summer season!

They appear to have been formed in 2005 but all their B737 aircraft are now leased out to Air Algerie with one B734 under repair in Amenas. One of their two A310's is stored and the other is with Ariana Afghan.

I assume they have additional aircraft on order or one of the Algerie machines will return to the fold for the Summer 09 season.

Any word of when the charter series commences?

Danmadole,

The Saga Airlines flights to Dalaman for Scottravel Holidays, operating from 5th May to 27th October 09, full summer programme. Far as I know, Scottravel Holidays and Holidays 4U, also operating peak season programme to Dalaman from BFS, are both new tour operators to Belfast. Holidays 4U operating Thursdays from 25th June to 6th August 09 using bmi flights.

On a seperate note, on the BFS website interesting article on most popular leisure and business destinations with Continental, onward through their Newark hub:

Presumably the Bombardier company are responsible for the Montreal popularity.

The fares are getting quite high on the BFS-USA(all destinations) routes.Time for some competition?.

What about EIN taking on a direct Canada service?

I was flying BHD EMA BHD today, i saw the early PIK flight coming into BHD i counted 17 pax getting off, and wait for it 21 going back out, couldnt believe it and it must have been over 30 mins ahead of schedule. The load on EMA was much better at at least 90!

I realise that it is a Tuesday but cant believe that PIK loads so low. It amazes me whey Ryanair avoid head to head with Flybe, is there a case for serving GLA with one route?

yea i agree, some competition is needed on the usa routes. I didnt realise so many people went on to montreal and minneapolis! This should tell the airport/airlines that more direct flights to more us destinations should be considered.

well EZY's BFS fleet just took a step backwards from an all airbus fleet, just lost our LGW A319 nightstopper, as the BFS crew is now operating the route, which will be a 737..

it was never a BFS aircraft as they are all 737's. The first BFS bus is about 9 months away so I wouldn't panic.

EI407

Does anyone know what the story with EI407 is showing on the monitor as departing at 2310 Belfast to Dublin, but this is a Rome/Dublin flight number?

as far as im aware the FCO is coming in with PAX then positioning or going for maintenance.. empty to DUB... seems an awful waste of fuel considering theres another FCO coming in round midnight with PAX onboard as far as im aware...unless they are both heavy loads

Was wondering that myself, EI69 is the scheduled BFS flight getting at midnight, and the EI407 arriving BFS at 22.40 and then on to DUB at 23.10.

If the BFS flight booked out early, assuming loads are heavy, is it usual for an airline to route via another airport like this. Would EI not just expect passengers to either be more flexible with their dates, or journey down and fly from DUB??

Just checked Aer Lingus timetable online and EI407 was infact a scheduled service, however if you look at the timetable it concur with the times, ie arrival into Dublin at 0015 and only for one day 29March!
Also on the future weeks the same Dublin/Rome/Dublin flight operates but on those dates leaves at the same time but gets back an hour earlier (this one on a monday).

It's a bit odd! Must be something on where extra capacity was needed.
