Just possibly some of the BD routes that were closed by LH (in order to recycle slots) were not so loss-making as was implied, and BA may see some potential in reviving them.

Some if not most of the BA 767s are in desparate need of a refurb though - always try to avoid them, for this reason, whenever flying medium or LH. Personally wish they had gone to the RAF as tankers!

Most of the 767's will be refurbished and infact it process has started for the second 767 which is a short haul config machine, so I wouldnt give up on the 767 quite yet, theyll be around for many more years to come

CabinCrewe - I guessed they would be around for a while and had heard rumours of a refurb. Is this to domestic, SH or LH spec?
Having worked on the attempt to get rid of the 767s to the RAF I guess I just don't like flying on them. Had a particularly awful flight back from IAD one time. Like many of the 744s (love this acft) they are getting rather long in the tooth now but I guess the economics of business life today mean they have to fly on for some years yet. Like the 737s at LGW.
I'm not BA knocking, by the way, I'm a very frequent flyer on both short and long haul. Will continue to do so.
And to those who suggest keeping the BMI 330s, unless the all too regular technical problems can be sorted, I really wouldn't bother. Reliability and punctuality on the RUH sector was, in recent months, quite apalling as a result!

There are two refurb programs, a less ambitious tidy up (panels, lighting, bins, carpets) to SH 767s and a slightly more noticeable refurb of the LH 767's including refurb of the existing CW seat. Will be suitable refurb to do them until replaced. One SH in progress one LH completed and in service.

The SH refits are a little more involved than that cabincrew. They are also having new '777-300' style seats in eurotraveller, a new type of seat for club europe, a more up to date digital IFE system with flat screen replacing the ancient screens hanging from the ceilings and on the bulk heads. All 7 SH aircraft are being refitted and 7 of the LH.

British Airways
I cannot be bothered reading 94 pages so how likely is it that British Airways will add Heathrow to Osaka ? Also how likely is it that LHR-BHD and LHR-DUB will remain in the long term ? Will british airways keep the same frequency on these routes (BHD,DUB) as Bmi did ?

The WT seats on the LH aircraft are being recovered.

I can't remember the exact date, but it was when the Japanese economy was seriously stalling.
Indeed the days of BA operating LHR to double-daily Narita, daily Osaka, daily Nagoya and 3 times a week to Fukuoka won't be seen again in my lifetime.

What are the chances of BA launching SCL? Am I right in that it's the only major oneworld hub that they don't serve? For me LHR-SCL is the obvious gap in the South American market and it would be an ideal route for the 787. Or are they just happy to keep funneling everything through MAD?

SCL is one of the routes than BA is stringly looking at. It is in a similar situation to Seoul. Seoul though has higher yielding economy and business cabins.
I wouldn't be suprised to see it announced soon though.

Great idea, hope it materialises! It could maybe start off as an add-on to LHR-GRU (as EZE used to be) without impacting on LHR slot-use, and shift to non-stop if there are adequate traffic and yields.
In the longer term it would be good to see BOG and LIM as well.
Suspect that SGN is also being considered, Vietnam is "up and coming".
