At the press conference WW did say that this is the third time they've launched Heathrow to San Diego. The rotue didn't deliver a profit previously as BA was working in isolation, but 'we are extremely confident that, by working together with our colleagues, it will'.

Are there any European routes that are flown by the 767s? Only one I know of is Frankfurt, but want to go to Scotland in two weeks and I am looking for a nice ride to LHR.
I flew to Larnaca 5 years ago on a 767. I think they still operate it from LHR to LCA.

European 767

Yes, I travelled to Istanbul and Laranaca over July, and the are both operated by the 767. Found the aircraft a bit worn and tired. Still nice flying widebody in Europe

I've been at San Diego when a BA 747 arrived.
The BA 744 used to do San Diego as a shuttle from PHX as an extension of the LGW-PHX service.

B767 should fly to DME, FCO, CDG, FRA, ARN, LCA, ATH and IST (not all but some of the flights to these destinations are served by B767).

B757 will have its last flight on 30 Oct but don't know where they're flying now or where the last flight will go.

Is there any update on the second B773 entering service and any changes to the previous single aircraft schedule? (see previous post 24th Sept.)

Plenty of Euro routes still use the 767. They switch around a bit from time to time, routes like Moscow or Larnaca always have them, but there are no domestics at the moment. On the other hand, Paris seems to have made a comeback with them this year. To Germany, Frankfurt flights 902/3 on most days and 912/913 on Wednesday and Thursday are the only regulars at the moment.

does anyone have more info on roughly when in the next couple of months BA might be using the 767 for CDG or even the 757 anywhere? (apart from the expensive farewell flight of course :P )

I do believe that cargo as much as passenger capacity is the determinant of 767 usage. If BA have an opportunity of a contract for extra freight (eg to Paris) then they may consider switching things around and moving a 767 from elsewhere. Then, of course, they have to reconsider passenger marketing to maximise the ticket revenue now they have additional seats. Don't think Yield Management is only for above the floorline !

You can do this short-haul, where the crews just work out and back on the same aircraft. Doing type substitutions for commercial reasons on long-haul with crew slips is a whole different ballgame.

Just booked myself on BA1389. I hope they use G-CPET on it!

Will this be the first time BA have used a 757 on T5 Flights?

Can the 757s use actual terminal gate/air bridges, or do they have to use remote stands with buses?

The 757 can be accommodated at any gate at T5. The only difference really is the way the bags are loaded and unloaded as the baggage isn't 'containerised'. During the periods of industrial action, Euro Atlantic, Jet2 and Astraeus all used 757's at T5.

Malaga

Can somebody in the know please explain why all the BA Malaga flights are moving to Gatwick in the new Summer schedules ? Would it not have been better to split two flights to each airport?

It's a very unfortunate because it means I will have no choice but to give my business to Lufthansa or god forbid Air France; Gatwick is a pathetic transit point for my business since BA moved most of my business relatedd flights to LHR.

Hi Aksai Oiler

I think the reason is that BA dont see a huge amount of transit traffic going on to the sunnier destinations in Spain and as a result feel that routes like Malaga are more point to point and as such can be served from LGW without substantially hitting passenger numbers, and also allowing the slot to be freed up for routes that would support better transfer connections.

Other Spanish and Italian routes from memory have went the same way or some have greater frequency from LGW for the same reasons.

I be one of their transit pax; along with a good number of others; seems I will either have to start flying again from my local airport (Jerez) with IB or switch to othr carriers

Thanks for the answer

Aksai Oiler- I understand how you mean, this has not been uncommon with BA in the case of airlines it has taken over, ie this was a GB Airways route. Same happened with Dan airs Heathrow Inverness it was moved, as were the routes to West Country with Brymon which eventually materialised into AirSouthwest. And not to labour the point but Jersey suffered the same fate, as far as I can remember!!!

Where is your final destination after London? ie Spain-London-?
