North will then be solely used by EZY. BA will have to relocate to South and the new stands being built in Crawley. Well the new stands are pretty far.

773ER service entry pushed back
BA's first 773ER, which was due to enter into service 22 August. According to GDS this has now been pushed back to 03 September.
The inaugural flight will now be BA139 to BOM on 03 September.
British Airways 777-300ER Planned Operation Routes: Update 2 AIRLINE ROUTE
767 refurb business case last I heard was due to be put forward to the board for approval. This is due to the late delivery of the 787.
Heard the plan includes fitting the new CW, WT and WTP products to the LH aircraft.
As yet no final decision has been made.

is the 767 going to refurbished or retired anytime soon.... they really are the pits to be honest and could do with a little TLC...?

But the long-haul 767s were refurbished inside not too many years ago, in the "Dusk" programme. It's the short-haul ones, which were never touched at that time, which are the real wrecks inside.

BA-Iberia could buy Indian airline, says Willie Walsh - Telegraph
Walsh plans biggest international airline | Mail Online
I think it's very clear what Mr Walsh has planned!
It is also comforting to see that although he seems to be planning world domination, quality airlines are the main targets.

I keep hearing that EZY are trying very hard to secure additional slots, eg Luxor, Tel Aviv, Cairo etc. This in turn will require additonal airframes.
Now, the majic number I am hearing is 50 airframes based at LGW, and the North Terminal can be painted orange. North will then be solely used by EZY. BA will have to relocate to South and the new stands being built in Crawley. Well the new stands are pretty far.
So whats the EZY current tally?

I'd be amazed if BA/TOM/QR/EK gave up their north terminals ops
Ah. So WW has got bored with BA, and has joined with his new-found friends in Spain to go and spend the company cash, rather than distributing it to shareholders, on buying up a lot of carriers elsewhere in the world. Who's up for sale then ? Well, it won't be anyone worthwhile. What about a second-tier Indian carrier, who recently posted further losses ? That'll do.
I wonder who is minding the shop back in London while all this fun and excitement is going on.
Remind me of previous such excursions. Did someone say Swissair. Bought up a whole slew of people like Sabena, who had been posting losses but suddenly the world was going to be wonderful. Sound familiar ? Where did that one go ?
Now where is BA getting the money from ? Perhaps it is retained profits from the last few years operations. No, because there haven't been any profits. So they've borrowed it, doubtless via the Mergers & Acquisitions departments of some very eager UK and Spanish banks. Sound familiar ?????

BA boss Willie Walsh reveals takeover ambition
British Airways and Iberia have drawn up a shortlist of up to 12 airlines which they hope to buy or merge with once their own tie-up has been completed.
BA boss Willie Walsh did not name any of the airlines potentially involved.
However they are reported to include carriers in emerging markets such as India or China.
He made the comments in Mumbai while unveiling a code-sharing deal with India's Kingfisher Airlines.
'Focus' Mr Walsh is keen to bring airlines together under the umbrella of the newly-created International Airlines Group (IAG) - formed by BA and Iberia.
"We have had a number of meetings where we have looked at airlines around the world and identified those that would be attractive to us," he said.
But he added the shortlist, whittled down from 40 carriers, was to give "focus" and that all 12 would not be pursued.
"We have not had any discussions with any airlines. There is nothing going on at the moment.
"We want to create a platform for like-minded airlines - those who believe that consolidation is part of the answer for the industry."
Mr Walsh is reportedly keen to achieve full mergers or acquisitions rather than taking minority investments in other airlines.
In 2008 BA failed in an attempt to merge with Australian flag carrier Qantas.

Asia is likely to be BA's focus for growth, as it's the largest probable growth region for the next 10-20 years. Asia ex-China/India is a region that looks remarkably similar to Europe 20 years ago in terms of demographic, scope for liberalisation, regional co-operation versus narrow national intersts etc. China and India are big enough to be considered as separate markets in their own right. Would BA do a JV with a Chinese partner? Is a purchase of Cathay a possibility? That would get BA a much bigger footprint in Asia as well as giving them a mainland China presence via Dragonair. Is the Kingfisher codeshare deal a pre-cursor to taking a stake and covering off India?
The bmi angle is an interesting one. Not sure if/how BA would get this through local, and certainly EU, competition authorities. BA already has a dominant position in the busiest airport in Europe. Wouldn't a bmi acquistion take BA above 50% of LHR's operating capacity? Any takeover would surely come at a price in terms of giving up slots?

IMHO, no chance of EIN. They bring nothing to the BA/IB party either by way of routes, feeds or finance. Why bother with any european play when IAG already has a foot hold here? Other than Easy at a push perhaps.
I would suspect the view would be global, so start short-listing based on strong intra-continental route networks that the group can feed into and visa versa;
Asia/Pacific -
South America -
North America -
Africa -
India (possibly) -
JAS

Given that the 2nd 773ER was delivered to LHR 20 Sep, does this mean a change to the previous planned schedule before 31 Oct 2010? Over a month seems a long time to have a new plane hanging around before entry into service, especially as its already been prepped at Cardiff.

BA (re) launch LHR-SAN
American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia Announce Better Deal for Trans-Atlantic Flyers - Oct 6, 2010
Not exactly from the horses mouth as it's from AA.com.
Didn't San Diego used to be served on the DC10 from Gatwick? Was it ever a Heathrow route?
edit : Found it !

From wiki: There use to be a non stop flight to London-Heathrow operated by British Airways, but service was terminated in 2003.
Hmmm, define "new".

remaining 757s
Hi everyone,
wanted to take one of the last 757 flights, now that they are being phased out. The plan to travel as standby pax on an ID ticket on a day trip or so. Can anyone tell me, which routes the 757s still fly? My base is MUC, so I would start there and go some place to fly to LHR and maybe somewhere else thereafter, before returning home.
Any help is really appreciated!!!
Thanks, Felix
PS: Are there any European routes that are flown by the 767s? Only one I know of is Frankfurt, but want to go to Scotland in two weeks and I am looking for a nice ride to LHR.
