What is the total capacity of EK's high density A330's?
Still no news on HH6702's promised easyjet expansion or indeed anything from AB?!
Hopefully pax stats will remain steady, we don't want to loose our place as the UK's fastest expanding regional or have we lost that already?

EK
Transwede
The max they take is 278 which is 24J & 254Y I believe.
Can't help with the low density 3 class ones but it is all on seatguru.
There was a slight rumour that they might get some 333's and they
could or would have over 300 even in EK lay out. However I think
that rumour was a bit weak and came about due to the expected
date of the 350 deliveries.
Normally the next step would be the 346 seat 772 but three of the
two class ones are leaving the EK fleet next year per reports on other forums. This would leave them to convert some three class ones
(no mention of this) or the 427 (or 433) two class 77W failing that a second service a few years down the line.

Just out of interest has anyone heard if the Business class seats are selling well and if the cargo side is doing ok?....both elements are crucial to the success of the route.

Good news on the CPH service upgrade. Thats 2 of NCL's full service scheduled carriers which have increased frequency on business orientated european scheduled services. It just goes to show that given the right aircraft and destination, regional services to european business centres can work from NCL. I'd personally hazard a guess and say the likes of FRA, ZRH and MAD could be a winner with CRJ or similar equipment!??

Ryanair is to axe its BGY flights, eff. from the end of the winter schedule.
Means that only 2 FR routes left in NCL (DUB&GRO). Will we ever see a further Ryanair's expansion fromTyneside or just flts cancellations ?

BGY - Looks like the A/C is being used to start the new Manchester service same times etc as our old service!
Inglebysmog - How many ALC a week will that give MME??? Wouldn't like to think how many ALC and MJV's NCL has!

I did not question the number of flights a week, I just made a comment about the number of destinations served from the North East by Ryanair.
Was my comment incorrect?????????

It is a region that is very much dominated by LS and EZY. There is also a difference between the Jordies and the rest of the country - Jordies seem to stick with the Package holiday more than they do with the LCC option.
I'm not saying that there isn't a market for FR in the region because they can usually make most routes popular with their extremely low fares.
Maybe FR's next intention after MAN and EDI will be MME?

Dissappointing to see FR are to drop the BGY route?! Maybe some other carrier will take it up, NCL lacks in flights to Italy, which is quite a strong low cost destination.
For Summer 2008, the total amount of direct destinations will stand at 68 - NCL having lost, for one reason or another direct flights to Luxor, Chania, Santorini, Rome, Almeria, Valencia, Inverness, Hamilton, Berlin, Oslo, Molde (can we count that one?) and now Bergamo. On the plus side we have gained extra frequency to DUS and CPH, as well as Punta Cana, Cancun, Plymouth and Newquay.
68 is a dramatic drop on previous summers, was this past summer not close to 90 direct destinations - taking into account some destinations offered only partially through the year, such as GVA and CMF?
Hopefully, though expansion seems to have died down, it will not take too long for axed routes, which have appeared to run successfully according to pax stats to be picked up by alternative carriers.
Incidentally, following the mergers of the charters, the number of nitestopping aircraft planned currently stands at 22 (3xTOM, 2xTCX, 6xEZY, 4xT3, 3 x LS plus the BA, AF and KL metal), so the stands at NCL will be able to breathe a sigh of relief next summer.

transwede:
Rome is being served for summer 2008 so thats a total of 69 direct routes at the minute!
3rd edition holiday brochures will be coming out in the next few weeks.
i would expect to see a few extra flights being added.
