Not to mention no whopping great tax to pay to greedy Gordo if you fly from DUB as opposed to LHR. Instant saving of £80 on transatlantic prices.

EI from NCL

EI appears to treat NCL like JER - DUB is the only destination offered in the on-line timetable. Even EDI gets connections to JFK and IAD. However, given that most of the US flights leave DUB in the morning, EI would need the 0755 departure that's currently used by FR.

The exception appears to the the 14:10 NCL-DUB on Saturday, which, allowing for the odd wildcat strike by Aer Lingus ground staff, would give you sufficient time to catch the 17:00 DUB-JFK, and still have time for a beer or two in NY. However, I don't see a way of persuading the EI website to get you this on one ticket.

Can't have been more than 50 on today's EI305, and 40 last Monday.

So... it's either KLM via AMS or Air France via CDG and a few extra miles on my Flying Blue card. Anything to avoid LHR.

I had a look at prices for a random weekend in November, DUP to JFK. How can they possibly, 5 months in advance and knowing what the fuel price is now, be charging a £80 fuel surcharge already?? Not that they put it in the lead figure they quote, of course.

Ncl- Dub-jfk/bos

Not sure if EI still doing BOS out of DUB but have flow to KFK several times this way and to BOS once(several years ago now).
DUB is BY FAR the best option for the US for the Homeland security clearance in DUB. Get to JFK and just walk past the queues - brilliant. Even worth an ight stop if connections don't work - use the Long haul tax cost to pay for the room!

Flew out Monday 11th on THO to ZTH.
0830 dep.
0615 check-in queues out the door.
0720, when eventually checked-in - same old problem that the feed belts could not keep up with the work loads - then onto the best bit of NCL - Security.
New facility, more queuing area, 5 x-ray machines and YES, the ususal max of 2 in operation. been like this for at least 10 years.

Came back Mon18th. The queue for immigration took 30 mins. What will the inbound queues be like when NCL get the new upgraded HMI computers of the new Border Immigration Agency??

..and; why is NC|L the only airport in the UK to still have 'presentation' at the immigration desks?

They'll cease to exist come the end of the Summer season, so they don't need to worry about their image being tarnished.

I don't think anybody gets good publicity for NCL. All you hear is bad.

"When the aircraft was eventually pushed back and the engines started, the problem reoccurred and it had to be brought back onto stand"

Does that mean the mechanics at NCL are as useless as the administartion lot?

Of course all you hear is bad, i don't think anyone would be too interested if it was reported every time a flight left on time! I would also advise retracting your statement regarding the engineers, not a sensible comment.

Flyjet

FJE may not be the most reliable of airlines at present, however give them a break. There are a small outfit trying to make a go of things in an extremely difficult environment. They have had 2 major delays from NCL recently and the press now seem to hound them and blow stories way out of proportion. Just reading the BBC internet site and in the story is the statement,

"At one point 20 of the 220 passengers stormed off FJE606 to Paphos because of the delay."

Yes I may well think these particular passengers did make alternative arrangements, but 'stormed off' is stretching it a bit.

Nobody seems to have commented on Flyjets reasonably good performance from NCL over last summer and the winter, very few delays occurred and judging by comments and reviews by passengers on such sites as carsurvey and skytrax, their onboard service and Cabin Crew are very highly thought off. Not many airlines receive such comments on these areas.

Also, this summer two other major charter carriers have suffered extensive delays but have the local press jumped on them or have the airport commented on their performance? NO. Give Flyjet a chance to redeem themselves and go out on a positive note.

They are still hundreds better than some of the charter carriers NCL has seen in the past, Nordic East anyone????

What, when they said a serious problem was fixed when it wasn't???
That's certainly the way it read.

Drop off and Pick up

Feature on Radio Newcastle this morning - parking arrangements being revised again!

There's certainly been a huge increase in the the use of 'unofficial' parking/waiting places all around the airport this summer, so something isn't working properly...

I think 2 drop off car parks (both with varying charges ranging from 5 mins free to extortionate) then the proper short term car park next to them is crazy. People don't know where to go, i think its just a case of confusing the money out of people, after all thats all their interested in.
