Appears Turkey continues to be a popular destination for NCL. Seems to be an increase in flights from TCX, TOM, OHY and FHY!

Has NCL lost its Globespan connection for next summer? Obviously last year GSM operated a YHM link, following the contract with TS termination, however Globespan (the tour company part) have served NCL for donkey's years, surely they won't stop serving?! Could they take seats on the new TS service in summer 08?

I must presume that there is a degree of rhetoric in your posting, else it would indicate that you have not read earlier postings on this or indeed checked out the GSM site for yourself.... all of which indicates that GSM are NOT operating NCL-YHM in S08
It is however also interesting that in not serving NCL GSM have adopted N.E. England as a long haul free zone. You would have thought that perhaps in reallocating the 'free day' released from 757 LH op's by the withdrawal of NCL, that they would have considered giving it to their 'base' at DTV. But then obviously they don't have much enthusiasm there either

Pardon me Skyman!!

Shame about GSM, it means we have lost another link with a long established company at NCL (Globespan the tour operator - not the airline!).

Has anyone seen a Globespan (tour operator) brochure for summer 08?...that would give us the information as to whether NCL has been dropped or not...it always used to be flown by Air Transat.

My Joruney from EGNT

Last week I arrived at EGNT 1hr before departure time.

Okay I should have been there 90mins before, but how many people actually check in 90mins before at EGNT??
I had a 800quid round trip ticket to LLBG airport via EHAM. On check-in I was told the KLM flight was full due to deadheads travelling. I asked for the jump seat which I knew wouldn't happen, but she said the deadhead might travel in jump seat.

Anyway I didn't get on the flight and then had to fly to Paris on AF. I then spent 2.5hrs at El Al security asking why I had changed my travel plans at short notice. To make things worse, El Al wouldn't contact LLBG airport to re-arrange my VIP escort on arrival. I arrived 2hrs late into LLBG and missed my VIP service. All in all not a nice evening business trip.

I am annoyed that KLM/Swissport chose to fly staff rather than a fair buying passenger.

Whose to blame KLM or Swissport?

On a positive note I did get 250 euro voucher on my return.

On Landing back at EGNT I did see an AWACS doing a couple of circuits which was quite impressive (Friday afternoon).

Talking Should have used DTVA

ARCAS,

If you had booked to fly from DTVA, you would have been able to get on, our check in is open till 30 mins before departure for KLM.

inglebyboro - I beg to differ KLM check in times for Europe is 30min (mme or ncl) however the min check in for travel to the middle east with KLM is 60min (mme or ncl).
ACARS - Why did you not check in on line? I doubt KLM would put crew ahead of a full fare passenger or at least admit that to the passenger?? I guess you must have turned up with less than 60min to the flight??

Its the fault of KLM not swissport. Swissport were just following KLM guidelines. If deadheading crew are booked on a flight then they must travel whether the flight is overbooked or not as they will be deadheading to operate a service out of AMS, however i am suprised you were told about that at check-in.

Check in is also open till 30mins before at NCL. He didn't get on the flight because it was over booked and already full at 60 mins before.

But then again i suppose you don't have that problem at DTVA either do you?! /

I find it incredible that someone on check in supposedly told a passenger that they could not fly because staff had taken there seat. That is not very professional.
The staff would be on the flight to opperate a service /services probably from AMS. If they were not able to do this then a cancellation or delay would have happened on another flight inconveniencing more passengers than the few denied boarding at NCL.
Hovever I note that ARCARS was re routed via CDG and arrived at destination 2 hrs late. Could have been much worse at an airport where that alternative was not available. Shame about the vip treatment. Sounds as if El Al less than helpfull but dont know full circumstances.
Whatever the check in times are, why turn up at 60 mins if you think its 90mins !!!!

Nclops,

As a matter of fact the KLM loads from DTV are very good indeed - they are one of our best customers...it is childish remarks like that which causes tension!

KL loads are good at both Durham Tees Valley and at Newcastle, However the Passenger numbers at NCL are obviously greater due to larger aircraft and higer frequency.

Check in desk closing times are identical at BOTH airports. For Middle East latest check in is supposed to be 60 mins.

My 5yr old was crying so I spent a few extra mins outside in the car park with him. This is why I wasn't there on time. I nearly always check in 90mins before because I like to use the wireless and have a Burger King. I was late, but I thought 60mins would suffice. Maybe it was 60mins +/- 5mins, but I arrived in terminal at 15:20 for a 16:20 departure. If it was a am flight, I would be there 120mins before because sercurity queue can be long.

I fly every week with business and was shocked what they told me about the crew. Fact is that flight was overbooked, I arrived too late but shouldn't have been told about the deadhead. Pre 9/11 I might have got a jump seat ride but not nowadays.

And whilst I am ranting. I was very dissapointedd with business class back from Israel-AMS. Wasn't expecting a 737-900 series. Another aircraft ticked off, but I was expecting a reclining chair (I never get to fly business class so I had expectations). I then flew business to NCL on a Fokker 70 and that was a complete disaster for leg room.

There is never any pleaseing some people eh?! Count yourself lucky they got you to TLV the same day and didnt ask you to come back next day, or taxi you to MME or LBA as that is usually an option on an oversold KLM.
Regarding deadheading crew.... price of bumping off 2 or 3 pax vs price of cancelling 2 or 3 sectors flying from AMS because crew are stuck in NCL? I know what Id be choosing, and sorry but you would again be getting the boot

They've just put their summer 08 flights from MME on sale so I think that rules out a move to NCL before next September anyway

Well done Servisair!!!

Swissport suffered problems last year, due lack of staff and just having too much to cope with, though airport facilities did not help! Hope Servisair make a go of it, they deserve something at long last, just don't mess it up.

EK NYC

Doubtful, but stranger things have happened!

Wizz

Thought they were pleased with MME loads?

Air Berlin
Possible???
