Emirates - This is only to be anticipated as in the initial stages the inbound leg was weak. A colleague who used the flight in Sept noted that on the inbound sector at end of the 3rd week there were a 'significant number' of empty seats. One must presume that as the service develops then the balance will be addressed by the substantial number of return bookings from this end.

JET2 Summer 08

Interesting that for Summer 08 NCL to Pisa goes from 4 times a week (SO7) to weekly. Mahon goes from twice weekly to weekly. I assume from this that Jet2 have been unable to secure the additional aircraft they wanted for the NCL ops.

This is probably reinforced by the news I heard last week that they are recruiting less NCL based cabin crew for SO8 that they originally planned.

If this is true and EZY don't bring back those two units for SO8 then next year may be the first year that we see a actual fall in pax numbers from NCL.

Really? ................... Not sure about that!!

The recruitment will be done in phases to allow for different training courses and time for those carrying out the recuitment process to carry on with their normal jobs as well.

There are no full-time cabin crew recruitment managers in Jet2!

Summer 2008

I think that there MAY!!! be one Easyjet aircraft back for the summer but unlikley that it will be 2.

Jet 2 appear to be also cutting back from NCL despite the stories of big expansion plans. Unless thats still to come?? From what is happening they could have one less aircraft at NCL next summer.

Combined with the rumoured cut in the number of charter aircraft based at NCL, ncleflights comment about a reduction in passenger numbers is highly probable. It could be a big reduction!!

Seems NCL is now lagging behind other airports where the stream of new route announcements continues.

Is there any link to the moving of the ex CEO. or is it all coincidence ?.

Probably coincidence. Whilst he was shady and underhand and very probably bent as well, the ex CEO was quite good at attracting new business. He has left behind a couple of incompetents who are now responsible for Aviation Development. One of whom had to return rather sharply from the routes conference to help rescue the situation with the DfT closing down security a few weeks ago. Nuff said!

NCL next airbus base for Ezy?

Ive heard rumours that ezy are planning to change ncl from a boeing base to a bus base? Is this correct? If so when are the changes coming into effect?

for anyone thats interested in statistics, I have looked up the pax traffic figures for the first three months of the Glasgow - Dubai route and Ncl comes in with a very favourable comparison.

Glasgow - Dubai March 2004 ...5289
April 2004....6547
May 2004....9435

as against...Newcastle - Dubai Sept. 2007...9,552

Source...CAA stats

I know that this posting is merely anecdotal but I flew Dubai to Newcastle on October 7th and returned October 12th. On both occasions the plane was almost (and quite possibly) full and from what I could gather on arriving in Dubai about half were transferring there to some other exotic clime. From what I can tell the route is proving to be a success.

Why then is it that EZY seems to justify cutting routes like Rome and Berlin for which there must surely be a market? Andy Harrison seems to think that Geordies can only like the Costas and aren't sophisticated for anything else.

Let's hope Emirates wakes other airlines up to the fact that not all Northeasterners wear football shirts all the time and we start getting a more interesting selection of routes.

Pisa

Seems a bit odd cutting frequency to 1x weekly. Ave load on 4x weekly has been I think about 110 pax, surely 3x weekly would have been more appropriate.
I think NCL carried more pax to Pisa than EDI to Pisa this year, and that is being kept at 3x weekly next summer.
Route development seems to have stopped and is in reverse. Why????? There is still demand out there.

Ezy A/c

Ezy will be basing two aircraft from NCL to BFS for the winter. However, One will return at the end of January indicating at least six aircraft for S08.

Routes such as NCE/CIA will be reduced during winter, as well as the domestic fequency of flts for STN & BRS.

NCL-KRK frequency may also increase for the winter/S08.

EZY

TwoFife, The Nice does not opperate at all in winter now, its just a summer route. Rome is dropped completely from the end of OCT. Krakow I think does have a frequency increase this winter.

The frequency reductions to STN and BRS have been discussed earlier in this thread, in paticular the in my opinion over the top cuts to the STN.

Why do you think one aircraft will return in Jan? I think the current winter programme can be handled by 5 aircraft. Possible new route? or could they be putting the Stansted back to a reasonable frequency.

Jet2 & Xl S08

i think that JET2 are testing the water they will add extra flights depending on how the route sells. Its better to add extra flights than to cut.
JET2 wont want the press picking up that they are cutting flights and pax have to rebook onto a different day or airline.

XL
2 aircraft are needed on a saturday
1 aircraft for the PMI, RHO
1 Aircraft for the DLM

Could we see 2 based units from xl again more flights to be added in the coming weeks/months?

Jet2

Pisa--- By only having 1 per week they have effectivley killed the short break market to that area which I understand made up most of this and last years passengers. Cant see them adding frequency depending on sales once the bookings have been opened to what is now a limited market.( one or two week holidays )

Could it be that Easyjet may start on this route??

Talking ezy.myt

re ezy a/c's

easyjet are moving two too bfs for the winter, one will return around the mid december mark, the second will return around about march, so there will be at least the 7 there, there is at lease 1 more coming for summer 08

the CIA is dropped as of oct 30th, however startesd bak up at the start of summer along with MAH,NCE CDG*2 IBZ with easyjet planning too launch " at least 3 new routes for ncl "

my travels 320 is leaving around about 0ct 25th to be replaced with a 757 tcx aircraft, operating under the flight codes of MYT, they will be bringing a 330 too do SFB routes
