BUSTER...

You are somewhat of a broken record chap... Sour grapes??

Stansted passenger total in 2010 was 18.6 million.

Luton passenger total in 2010 was 8.7 million.

What does that make Luton then? 'White elephant poo' maybe?

Buster... time to get over yourself! We've heard your rant over and over again. Take up a hobby or try and get out a bit more. Go spot some planes maybe?

I wonder which London airport is the slowest growing?

I did once meet at Whipsnade a stunning white elephant called Stansted!
Yawn Seriously I think you need professional help.

Grrr

Bear bating, it that not illegal? As for professional help, not a vet in the world would touch me willingly!

Anyway, enough of winding up the pro Bishops Stortford folk, what is happening with the concession? Lots of unconfirmed rumours, but nothing substantive......or is there?

I see the new ground radar is up and running. Also the midterm bomb site that is the midterm car park is getting a makeover with curbs and pavements going in.

The radar may be running, but it will not be operational until the end of the year.

Yesterday the new radar was spinning while the old one was stationary. This morning both were stationary. Does the new radar have better coverage as it seems a little higher?

Just looked at the El-Al winter timetable. Just two flights a weeks, how many was it last winter?

El Al Winter Timetable at LTN

Last winter it was generally three flights per week - Sun, Mon, and Fr. This winter, forget the Monday flight. Seems to me hardly guaranteed to retain loyalty from customers. Rather, a handover to easyJet! Plain daft, although no doubt there are good hidden reasons.

One million pax in July

The airport has announced today that it handled over 1 million passengers in July, an increase of 9% on July last year. Passenger numbers in the first 6 months are up 11.3% on 2010, but that includes the effect of the ash cloud last year. It makes Luton the fastest-growing of the London area airports.

For the record, actual number of pax handled was 948,318 scheduled and 72,172 charter, total 1,020,490.

Most popular destinations in the month were Palma, Budapest then Malaga.

BUD in 2nd place, well thats a shocker. Dont know of any other UK airport that can even put BUD in its top 3. Lets hope W6 does move from DSA to EMA.

El Al do seem to be leaving the door open for Easy, with talk of an exandsion of routes from TLV to other cities you would have thought they would protect their market share.
Budapest, with the price EZY are charging, I wouldn't be suprised if that goes double daily, must be full on the current rotation.

July passenger figures

Yes Budapest in second place - that was a surprise - although Wizz operate three times daily as well as the easyJet service. Also a little surprising to me at any rate is Malaga in third. Living down in the south of Spain it is still not as busy as it is usually for this time of year. Biggest increase down here is the Scandinavian market - was at Malaga Airport the other Saturday morning and there was as nearly as many Norwegian Shuttle and Sterling flights as easyJet!
Regarding the July passenger figures - pretty good in these difficult times - wonder if Mr Kehoe (now at a rather struggling Birmingham) rues the time he left Luton.

El Al 777 at LTN in winter?

I doubt that. Would need an exceptional winter load. Also, bear in mind that El Al will also protect their LHR slots and passenger numbers at all costs, so the 772s will probably be needed there. LTN? Well, I reckon a 757 or even 738 some days.

According to the El Al timetable we will be seeing a 777 and a 763 on some days towards the latter end of August...

Its a shame about the winter cutbacks, because the route seems to be doing so well at the moment!

True. However, it does seem to be back to 6 x weekly from the end of March.

Looks like the Airport Authority are working with the Luton Council to sort out once and for all the road network in the CTA. This should result in the removal of the crossover of traffic that enters and leaves the drop off area. Work hopefully will start on the new road layout in the New Year.

Little enquiry from a long term observation.

Living under 08 is there any specific reason it is hardly ever used for Arrivals? Seems to me most of the time it is 26. Or am I completly deluded?
