Have GSM got any deals with travel agents in the Indian community? I would think they would need such deals considering their lack of brand awareness at both ends of the route

Gsm Atq
Prompt from GLAGAZ on the GSM thread - BHX - ATQ is no longer
showing in the drop down box on the GSM site.
There were negative local rumours a few days back which could
be realised.

FlyBE
Heard today that FlyBE could be about to end their contract with Swissport. Swissport are in meetings with FlyBE trying to find a solution.

Ryanair
Not just a MOL threat to FUE then?
Flights seem to have been pulled from 10/1/09 as per the DUB - FUE
as mentioned on the FR thread.
The summer 2009 first release is out and although only work in part for four aircraft based it seems frame number 5 will be required to maintain
the current number of destinations.
Still many popular routes not released including all the Polish ones and
they have some of the highest load factors from the bhx base (and
probably some of the lowest yield).
I must admit I have not checked the Polish fares recently but they are
certainly packing them in. Some low fare/low load factor flights are
released though such as Dinard, Billund & Torp.

Ryanair summer 2009
The rest of destinations for early summer have been released.
Four busy aircraft most days but Wednesday & Sunday mornings
see five departures (only checked one week in May) so it seems
that there is going to be at least one extra unit.
No much change otherwise with Marseille and Szczecin not
bookable yet. The former is not usually a bhx based and I have
not checked to see if the MRS flights have been released.
Pisa has gone back to a Pisa based aircraft like this summer
but only two flights a week.

New airline
Taken from the US Airways website:
US Airways (NYSE: LCC) customers will have a new United Kingdom option and their first Norwegian offering next summer when the airline inaugurates service to Birmingham and Oslo from its international gateway at Philadelphia International Airport. These new routes complement Tel Aviv service, which was announced earlier this year. The two routes are subject to foreign government approval.
Birmingham becomes the fifth United Kingdom destination US Airways serves, while Oslo is the airline's second Scandinavian destination after Stockholm, Sweden. The two seasonal routes will be operated with Boeing 757 ETOPS aircraft configured with 12 Envoy seats and 164 seats in the main cabin.
Customers may book beginning Oct. 25 at usairways.com and through global distribution channels. Schedule detail is as follows:
Routing Flight Frequency Departure Arrival Start Date
----------------- -------- --------- --------- ---------- ------------
Philadelphia - US726 Daily 6:05 p.m. 6:25 a.m. May 12, 2009
Birmingham next day
Birmingham - US727 Daily 8:45 a.m. 11:50 a.m. May 13, 2009
Philadelphia
Philadelphia - US788 Daily 8:35 p.m. 10:35 a.m. May 21, 2009

What a result for Birmingham Airport. In this climate there are few UK Airports that would have managed to secure a legacy US carrier. BHX has a real healthy mix of low fares, legacy and charter flights. I believe that airports with this mix will perform well in the wake of any recession.
16 new FR routes this winter
Turkish Airlines IST from December
US Airways PHL from May 09
Well done BHX

Us Airways
US Airways and BHX
Been reading on airliners.net about US launching new international services and BHX has again been mentioned. With Oil coming down could we possible see US at BHX. Having used US ex MAN this year to LAS and LAX, with both flights full, will they move into BHX???? Be great to finally have a new transatlantic flight ex BHX. Another positive at PHL is imigration clearance was very quick as not many transatlantic flights. Great for onwards......

And you read it here first back in Aug. Myself and bhx runway 15 nailed it... Ha Ha Great news

The thread on the airliners net does make some interesting reading. The Lack of first-year incentives was the reason BHX lost out on US service the year US added BCN and VCE, who each provided very generous marketing packages. This time the rumour is BHX and OSL are competing to see who can offer better incentives for a 752 flight in 2009.

US Air
Is that third time lucky?
I believe bhx has been considered three out the last four years,
well obviously more than considered now.
Despite having the 757's available and partially solving the gate
problem at PHL it was still a surprise to get this one the way things
are in the US & the UK.
Having said that, there must be enough traffic for two 757 USA routes
from BHX? I suppose we are going to find out.
Congrats to all concerned.

Fantastic news about US Airways and well done to BHX for getting such an important route under these trying conditions. Pity its 'one in one out' as today its farewell to Air India?? BHX gets new carriers but retaining them seems to be another matter! Guess thats market forces for you!
Just looked at the BHX timetable online and it states a flight with Baby to Verona VBS once a week on Saturdays as follows
WW1913 0610-0940 BHX-VBS WW1914 1010-1150 VBS-BHX from 20/12
But this flight is not avialable to book on the BMIBaby website - anybody out there in the know? Is this a charter mistakenly loaded into the scheduled timetable?

I know they are doing numerous charters throughout the winter for Inghams Travel amongst others so possible a ski flight. Beleive they are also taking over the flying Austrian did last year as well.
