Thanks again Call100 - I agree about direct being better than hubbing - Using MAN as a example - There has been growth, but not like the sort of route structure;that was envisaged say 10-15 years ago - and that's for the north of the UK - I'm not blaiming any single airline but; even there where runway length is not a limiting factor -( SQ/EK big execptions)- where are those S Africian/ E Coast USA links - As for the anouncement, I hope I'm wrong but the cynic inside me born of experence - call it prejudice if you like -i smell a rat.lurking - lets see if I'm wrong. Only a poor SLF but I understand ecomonics like everyone else.

Emirates A380
Was told by one of the Servisair guys that apparently BHX is a diversion airport for the Emirates A380. Apparently it can land and take off fully loaded. Does anybody know if this is true and also what other airports in the UK are Emirates A380 diversion airports?

Re A380
Don`t think so, even if runways OK it`s the taxiway and parking infrastructure
I think main DIV points will be CDG, FRA or AMS at present and probably MAN when the taxiway work and stand on T1 is ready which should be before year end I think

Manufacturers identify diversion airports with the capability to handle the emergency. This is not the same as the airlines identifying their own diversion preferences.
