Oh god not again! The Air India hub rumour is just that, a rumour. AI themselves have said they are going to go direct from DEL.
BHX immigration people have been warned to expect up to 5 Air India flights a day!
By who? a passanger? management? air india? I think we can safely say that it isnt going to happen.
I can believe a route of maybe ATQ-DEL-BHX-DEL-ATQ, as they seem to want to put all longhauls through DEL and its ATQ that would bring in the most pax, but a hub to America, its time to move on.
On another note, an AA route could still happen. I think there is another press release due as in todays releases, there was no mention of the fact MAN-JFK has gone year round, so maybe they are waiting for a wholesale JFK announcement (aside from the already announced JFK-BUD).
I think ORD will work better for AA at BHX, and with BA codesharing, lets hope they get it right this time!

Remember it is the Civil Service - probably reacting to something they heard 6 months ago

I am sure the Armavia was bookable for October, as I was constantly checking the booking engine at the end of September - more spin?
AA - Hopefully just the first of a few announcements this autumn, certainly some on another forum have shown their surprise at the lack of routes announced today, thus far.

Please keep this thread on topic. The wanderlust in some of you spoils it for the rest of people who have a real interest in BHX.

OK....Who went off topic????
BHX are falling further behind in the route wars........They need to make some announcements soon (Not like Armenia).....Otherwise some heads should roll...The right ones this time....

Totally agreed it's about time BHX had proper route announcements with proper international carriers, the CEO and his colleagues in the marketing team need to start delivering not just talking about it.

So the big cheeses at BHX have decided to drop the "International" title from the airport's name. I wonder how many rounds of golf and corporate away days it took to dream that masterstroke up?
Meanwhile across the pond our country cousins in sleepy Alabama proudly call BHM - Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport. Well they do have flights to 25 other US Cities!!
But good on them at least they seem to have ambition and enthusiasm.
Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport is Alabama's largest airport serving the Greater Birmingham area and surrounding Southeastern cities. Offering more than 120 daily flights to over 25 cities throughout the United States, Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) presently ranks in the country's top 75 airports in terms of passengers served annually. BHM served over 2.9 million passengers in 2009.

Did I miss an AA/BA/OW announcement last week mentioning BHX ?
No, didn't think I had
Another forum talking about possible MAD for OW from various UK points. Will we see one at Brum ?

PIA
This happens every year to the Sunday flight, although the dates vary. As in previous years it does not show for next summer either, this is standard for PIA from BHX.
Previous years it reappears into the timetable in January for a Feb or March start.
I am not saying that it will however it is nothing unusual from previous years schedules. I think the aircraft is used on pilgrim flights for part of this time period.
Last time I looked loads were about 80 per cent on a 773.
Not lost yet.

Re AA, certainly much back-tracking on another forum claiming that last
week was the first of several announcements each to maximise publicity.
We know that Miami - Barcelona was supposed to be for another day
although due to a communication breakdown BA let the cat out of the
bag - it has yet to be decided if AA or IB will be flying the route.
So still a slight possibility that BHX-ORD could become reality again.
S78
Certainly took their time about that and will KLM go back as well?

I totally agree with Centre Cities take on this one. History suggests three
x 77W's will cover November through to mid February, which is about 9000
seats although November would be tight. You can see from last years figures the 4th flight restarted earlier than the previous year in February.

Like you say, BCN-MIA still needs to be made official and the fact that MAN-JFK has become a year round operation, so there are definatly more announcements to come, its just a matter of what rumours will be made official and what rumours will be rubbished.

1st Visit of type!!!
A Western built airliner, this one nearly 30 years old and a 1st visit of type!!!!
Yes a Saudi 747SP is currently parked up after arriving this morning.
So in the last week and half that is three Saudi Government or Royal flights, which is to say the least is rare for BHX.
Probably the sunshine.

BE Summer 11 @ BHX
BE summer timetable is out - HAJ goes double daily Mon-Fri, AVN, TLS and BOD are back May-Sept along with the usual BES, LRH and Bergerac (AVN only once a week though all other seem same frequency as last year), no sign of Rennes and Limoges. SPU and DBV also showing once weekly.
Good news about TS coming back to BHX with a 330, lets hope it proves popular, some good fares at the mo for early July.
Can't imagine FR will offer anything new for next year from BHX given their slow but sure decline as a base (apart from perhaps launching a route already served ) so looks like 2011 could be another flattish year for new destinations unless there is a major shock surprise

BE's routes from BHX with E190s ?
Was just wondering: I believe BE's E190s are not flying any German routes from BHX ? So mainly Scotland and France ? I've been in LOT's E190 and really liked that bird.
Thanks, good news about HAJ, which can also be used to get to Berlin in absence of a direct flight. Train Hanover-Berlin is 1:40, and that's into the heart of the city, not some airfield outside. SXF to centre is at least 45min incl walk and wait.
Stability in the BE routes, incl the traditional twice-daily to FRA with the ca 16:00 departure, is good news for BHX. The 14:00 to FRA didn't seem necessary, they were also often merged. I agree, not much to expect from FR.

Ryanair - BHX - Malta
The Sunday flight to Malta will now be done by a BHX based a/c since FR announced the closure of MRS base. The Wednesday flight will still be by a Malta based a/c.

September passenger figures down 2%
Source: CAA
917610 -2% rolling year 8645126 - 6.5%
Luton 869030 - 0.1% rolling year 8710460 - 6.3%
Edinburgh 873425 +2.2% rolling year 8697544 -3.7%
Traditionally September has been a kind month in the past usually down
to the NEC trade shows and this one is not too bad.
Well ahead of the Luton & Edinburgh figures but behind on the rolling year.
jpthomas72
Frankfurt - agree with your comments and I hope that this will be one of BHX's first 175 service.
The 195's fly all domestic from BHX at present other than Milan and Q400 subs.
All change for winter, as Paris of course will have be all 195's except Sunday morning.
The other 195 this winter will go BHX-EDI-BHX-GLA-BHX-EDI-BHX-GLA-BHX.
I believe the third will be spare along with a Q400.
How much is the train fare Hanover - Berlin?
As for the 195, steer clear of the back rows as it not as smooth as some say even in half decent weather but other than that it really looks and feels good
from a passenger point of view.
Good to see Bordeaux at three x a week from the end of May.
The Inverness reverts to a BHX based aircraft late afternoon which will mean an extra frame based all assuming the rest of the schedule survives.
Milan seems to remain as a Q400 next summer which other than Frankfurt I hope will change to a 175 by 2012. I love Q400's but for over two hours I would probably change my mind.
