I have heard that Exel will be doing the SSH run for Jet2. It was advertised all over last weeks travel trade press. Anybody got any different news?

Jet2 are just taking a seat allocation on existing XL Tu and Su services. The article on travelmole quoted the general manager of Jet2holidays as saying this was the first of many new destinations that would be offered by the package holiday side of the business. Not clear whether this will be flying the routes themselves or buying more seats from existing operators (or a combination of the two)

PS - there has been no press or advertising mention of the Hamburg route from what I've seen. Even the LBA people are determined not to mention it - they updated their pdf timetable a full week after the Hamburg route on sale and failed to include it. Very odd given the appetite for German services.

The £28.99 Jersey fare ain't cheap, though.

I regularly fly to Jersey with Thomson from DSA and at least one of the legs is less than £12. I generally get the return flight for under £40, inc taxes.

I reguarly fly to Jersey and so do my parents/gran parents but the very cheap DSA fares are only if you book way way in advance and they are very few and far between. From Leeds its 22.99 return fare so total of £51.98, to be honest that aint half bad especially considering the flight from DSA leaves 07.30 and LBA leaves 10.00/14.15 which is much better suited for the more mature traveller (Jersey has a fair few!) I don't want to sound anti DSA but I really hope this is a success as Leeds has really missed a JER flight and a lot of people are put off by such an early flight from DSA.

Interesting to see if there are any frequency changes on DSA-JER for S08 when they announce it!

Matches the rumours though.

When will we latch onto the potential of Blackpool- Munich? BAe charge £750 return on their internal service. Any departmental heads would save a fortune on their budgets if that was able to be reduced to say, £200.

Shurely not the old " Star Trek" version of the 737 rumour Silverhawk

Having operated the STN based 737 into Olbia last year for H/Options my crews know all about the performance issues, Titan are having the same fun this year with their classic!

Nice also to see the LBA crews getting some carrier landings into JER as well , perhaps they can be rostered to do some training on the old weekend newspaper run Better get some sim training in on 40 Kts of fog on the deck as well.

Good news I reckon, particularly in light of Globespans annoucements this week.

Good to see JER back at LBA but be interesting to see how they get on with the 7 times weekly service of TOM out of DSA (assuming thats what they offer again next summer). With similar prices but a bit more flexibility on TOM be an interesting fight.

Jet2 to order larger a/c?

Rumor has it that Jet2 have applied for ETOPS and are taking delivery of larger A/C´s.

Any comments.

Regards.

The 'larger a/c for Jet2' rumour is one of the mainstays of Pprune, especially 767s (though some mischief-makers would have us believe that 777s and/or 747s are about to arrive at LBA).
It will definitely happen, or maybe not!

Machpointeightfour, there is a debate going on under the thread :

jet2 - 2

It'll save us going through all this again - although most rumors seem to have calmed down a little ........... at the moment!!

Jet2 Expansion@lbia

Fantastic news for Leeds in the last week. Partcularly pleased about Paris. Sardinia is meant to be one gorgeous island too. Just looking forward to when the full summer LS schedules are out now - I make it an extra 33-36 peak summer landings per week by LS (depending on exactly what, if anything, is added to BFS, CDG on the weekend [or reduced on other routes]). About 5 extra landings per day.

While I couldn't praise LS enough I just hope that other airlines (including foreign) will be given a lot of encouragement/incentives too by the airport. I hope Flybe can really get their act together in the next 12 months - they could be so good at Leeds serving lower density routes to Europe - blanket advertising and low fares really attract pax in this region but you MUST be reliable. Any opinions?

By the way LS, I know you read this site, your destiations board is not showing the Leeds route to Avignon.

People of Yorkshire and surround support the Best low cost Airline in the World.

Regards,

Leeds App.

You woke me up with that!

The dry whit of the southerner.

mon don't fly scheduled to anywhere that Jet2 have just announced and it would be unfair to compare charter routes as LS have only just got started.

What is fact is that mon loose market share every day to an airline that is expanding fast (not quite hare and tortoise but definitely moped and rollerskates [going up hill]). They aim to fly 3.5million Yorkies et al in a little over two years from Leeds. In all seriousness mon better have some plans - think they thought about operating from Leeds but couldn't go through with it?

I have flown with mon to Cyprus but next year I wont have to - you could say I'm being environmentally friendly - a massive conurbation like this should never have had to drive (10 mile traffic jam) to another big conurbation for a simple holiday flight. Jet2 had the bottle. mon should grow their hubs at BLK and ABZ!

Not posted for a while before today so thought I'd reply once cos JET2 are absolutely loved over here and things have only just begun. In fairness gallows humour often is the best.

Best Regards,

Leeds App.

I am sure the 2 hours it took me to drive the 15 or so miles from Halifax to LBA last week was extremely environmentally friendly.
