Vicarious

Faro is on sale from Blackpool for Summer 08 so I would think other airports will follow shortly.

That will probably be LBA.

Would love it to be BLK though - threetimes weekly, very nice!

I'd guess LBA-Cork, however could Edinburgh-Cork be a possibility? Aer Arann do very well on the route despite some very cheeky fares.

I wouldn't think it was going to be LBA-ORK, as Aer Arran are going daily on the route from November I believe. Possibly could be Blackpool. A nice short sector to slot in between something else maybe.

Probably due to the airframes in question not standing up to scrutiny.

What's all this talk of a B752 moving from NCL to EDI? Can't see that being neccessary with the current route network on offer from EDI.

Not sure but NCL is loosing 1 757. Both are in NCL now but only 1 is needed. STN crew are currently being checked out on 757 as well so could one be heardin their way? 1 extra 757 to join the fleet in Apr.

3 LBA 3 MAN 1 BFS & 1 NCL for winter.

I believe C checks called every 18 months on 757s so the 2 that had C checks last winter and the 3 aircraft that joined the fleet spring 07 will all need work from the middle of summer 08!! So maybe 757 number 9 will be needed mainly to help out with maintenance....

VLC seems to have dropped from favour for next summer. 2007 LBA 4 per week, NCL 3 per week and MAN daily. 2008 LBA 3 per week. Any ideas (vested interest!).

Does anyone know if Bergamo has been dropped from Belfast for summer 08?

It has disappeared from the destinations served list from Belfast.

I think Jet2 are becomming the 'jewel in the crown' of low cost carriers...

WHY?

* Jet2 have slowly built up their fleet, consistently and in keeping pace
with demand.

* Using the right aircraft for the route in question.

* Having the aircraft work day and night might not be ideal, but it brings in
money and by having the right people at the helm, especially in Flt Ops and
Flt Planning, and Engineering this usually isnt a problem for the day flights.

* Concentrating on their own market. UK / European destinations.
This is the reason why Jet2 differ from other low-costs, and why Jet2 will be a success.

Expansion will no doubt follow but with caution and when it does, it will also be successful.

I totally agree with what you say but also, there are some other points needed to be made:

1. LS jump into routes without taking the appropriate research.
2. They seem to avoid routes that seem blatently obvious!
3. After starting a route, they give no time for it to blossom if it is a poor starter.

Just think, if Dr. Ryan took that attitude 15 years ago and just gave up on MOL and Ryanair, then we wouldn't be flying around for 1p everywhere! Any-EZY would rule the skies!

Anyway, I think LS will be the next 'big boy' out of the UK lot. WW and ZB aren't doing much anywhere and LS have started to tap into the LCC unknown - 752, XL partnership, possible long haul, holiday company etc.

Bring on EZY and FR!

XL Partnership

Jet2 Holidays are to use XL Airways for the long(er) haul routes during summer 08. Not so much a partnership, just utilising capacity of XL.

Jet 2 also differ from other LCC's.

They have just about the oldest average fleet age.

Easy/Ryan 2.5 years.
BMIbaby 12 years
Jet 2 16 years!

At some point this will become a burden won't it?

Ryanair have only just phased out the 732!
Jet2 started with newer aircraft than Ryanair.

Phew re XL. I heard it was 50 MYT seats per week to Egypt.

Maybe PM is waiting until the world is awash with surplus aircraft. No point in buying now at top price.
