Cuts also at Blackpool

Very disappointed with the J2 offering from Blackpool for S08. Especially ALC down to 4 days - thought they were supposed to be doing exceptionally well on the S07 7 day service. Murcia 3 Days!

Will someone else step in with a summer Tenerife service?

Yes, it would be good to see a summer tenerife service from blk, but cant see it happening ,what with ryanair doing tenerife now frm liverpool, winter 07 has been cut to 1 a week some weeks, not really much better than what thomson were offering couple of years ago, still if once a week is whats required then how bout a weekly to another canary island,

When are the remainder of the winter flights to be launched?

Seems weird that the S08 seats are onsale before all WO7, but that is what demand does - us Brits love our jollies!

Just goes to show what I've believed for a long time, some of our profits are being wasted on so called professional experts.

That is crap advertising. Just tell it like it is, we will not just cancel the flight, like Ryanair, just because it is late, we will accomodate you overnight if our kit is faulty, EZ and RY DO NOT, and we will have staff that speak English as a first language.

Not proud of the LCC culture, but glad to say that ours is the most morally responsible so far.

Thats because jet2 Aircraft are so old and run into the ground (especially this summer) that they would never get any business if they had the same policies has other LCC's who have much newer and more reliable aircraft.
But on that note, it is a credit to all at Jet2 that they can survive (so far) in the very competitive market of LCC's.

They should put that in big letters on their homepage.

Nothing like building expectations.

They should do a 'reasons' ad campaign, like Morrisons did, until they started poisoning people with e-coli.

i dont see why Jet2 gets slated for having older aircraft, i think people forget that the airline is still young... when easy and ryanair started up they had older with the 737-200 and easyjet with the 737-300 also, ten years down the line and they have brand new, well jet2 still has another 6 years to go before getting to their level, however, there is two 737NGs coming online next summer to start replacing the 733s, think thy are -700s but not sure.
Its also nice to see most people on here slating Jet2 have never actually travelled with them! think ud get a pleasent suprise if you did, they are not the airline they are pictured to be on here!

-10 Years ago EZY had 737-300's, 10 years "later" jet2 have 737-300's. I'd say jet2 have started with older than EZY by about 10 years.
-As for Ryanair they did not have that much competition out of Dublin when they started as a LCC in 1991. In 1994 they got there B737-200's (11 I think) and 4 years later they put in there first order for B737NG's. 7years from BAC1-11's to B737NG's

Both EZY and Ryanair were very quick to upgrade the fleets.

Mr.Brown, just to point out to you, Easyjet started with ex Britannia B737-204s which were also the first B737 that Ryanair operated.
So Jet2 started with a more modern type of B737.

Thanks for pointing that out. Point taken.
However, Easyjet started in 1995 (i think) and ordered their 737-700's by summer 1998.
Channel express was formed in 1983 with the Super Dart Herald, and managed to upgrade to electra's, F27's and A300B4's all before getting their hands on B737-300's.
2003 Jet2 started with the B737-300's.
As jet2.com, 4years with no indication of new aircraft and as a company, 24 years of operating a second hand fleet.
Something tells me they won't be looking at new aircraft in the near future.

This is getting spotter-ish - the aircraft used by EZY to start ops on 10th Nov 1995 were indeed 737-200s G-BECG and G-BECH, operated for them by GB Airways. The first 737-300 G-EZYA was delivered on 29th May 1996, and was ex G-MONG with Monarch.

Two 737-700's on their way - I'm reliably informed..........................

Anyone's guess as to which will turn up first, NG's or 767's!!

I did hear from another source that the sim training is already booked for the NG's so guess those first??

Just because Ryanair did one thing or EZY did another thing, does that mean that LS have to follow either one slavishly? The market has changed dramatically and continues to do so. There are pros and cons for any business model and the acid test is ultimately profitability and survival.

It would be good to see shiny NGs and wide-bodies but better to see LS still thriving in five years time, however that is achieved.

A couple of extracts from an article published on Travelmole

Jet2, which was established at Leeds Bradford Airport just over four years ago, is creating 200 new jobs. [The HR Director said] "We have some major airline expansion plans which will shortly be announced"

Wonder why SL and team have put Leeds - Hamburg on sale but haven't bothered with any advertising - it doesn't even make it onto the news page on the wesbite. Keeping the powder dry for bigger news perhaps?

No chance. Nonsense.

When you've got news, you fire your cannons straight away. I imagine they've advertised it, but you haven't seen it.

Flying to places is an airline's bread and butter, obviously. News about creating jobs is just PR.

Their marketing department have a priority to shout about their service above all else.

Jet2 Holidays are doing package holidays to Sharm El Sheike this winter from Manchester. The airline quoted as doing the flights is Jet2 so does this mean 76's or is that just wishfull thinking.

There's no reason why their 75's couldn't do sharm el sheikh. Certainly that's what my airline uses.
