LAP? Don't you mean LHR? We've also got Barcelona Girona, Warsaw, and all GSMs routes on the scheduled front as well?

Schedule routes ex.DTV

Yeh,sorry...but I meant scheduled routes that are actually paying money and raising much needed revenue!(I suppose even the Dublin drops out of that category??).

But then again I suppose the majority of regional airports are in the same boat??

Two news articles have caught my attention this morning, the first is in the new edition of Airliner World magazine:

What speculation? This is the first I've heard of it! For me it casts even more doubt over a second aircraft.

The second article is in the Darlington edition of todays Northern Echo (not in the South West Durham or North East editions), and I haven't read the full article inside, just the headline on the front page, but it's regarding the airport applying to modify part of the expansion plans. So if it's just a publicity stunt like the majority of people think (including me), why would they go to the trouble of changing plans that they have no intention of going ahead with?

DTVAirport - I did post on this thread a couple of months ago following a rumour I heard direct from folks at GSM that they were seriously considering pulling out of DTV following a disapointing 1st season

Eastern to Brussels

Anybody know what's happening with the Brussels flights? Website says it's only available until 12/9, but appears to be still operating.
Somebody at work tried to book the tea-time flight for next Monday to be told it's full (!!), whereas when I've tried to book on line it says "No Flights are available on this date"?

"Full" usually means it's not running but we don't want to tell you why! Dropping it would be one of those where they don't want you to know! Last flight was meant to be today.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Shame - we used the tea-time flight quite a lot (but obviously not enough...) as it was more convenient for an early start the next day than the late evening SN from NCL.

Reference ATC staffing - there is now an additional radar valid controller who was previously tower only, which will allow another of the tower only controllers to cross train onto radar. Whilst it doesn't completely solve the issues I hope a corner has been turned, and provided there are no further long term sickness casualties then there shouldn't be any need for further closures.

On a different note - does anyone think GSM may be holding some route announcements back for next summer? I seem to remember they did similar for this summer - all be it for the 2nd aircraft not to start until end of June, but at least there was something there. They had a bad run of luck in August with mega delays and with not having a massive fleet seemed to have difficulty covering sectors resulting in 8 hour + delays...let's hope they can get on top of this for the skeleton winter program to encourage bookings for next summer!

At an economic development event this morning in Middlesbrough, the new minister for the North East, Nick Brown, was asked by a councillor from Tees Valley whether he would safeguard the slots for the MME-LHR service. Nick Brown said he would look into whether the cost of slots at LHR for all domestic services could be capped.

So that's a "No", then.

Given the Tories recent comments on applying VAT on domestic flights, I can't see the govt. giving any economic incentives to domestic flights - its just not 'green', is it?

Constant Flyer

I don't think the Government can ring fence slots at LHR (or elsewhere in the UK) as it would be in contravention of the EU Slot Allocation Regulation. So if HMG wants to do this it would have to change EU legislation so I wouldn't hold your breath.

Sounds like a politician just saying what people want to hear.

Dublin Winter 2007/2008

Looks like Ryanair are reducing Dublin to 4x weekly for the Winter season. According to the timetables on Ryanair.com there is no Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday service.

What the are Flyglobespan up to. Delays to flights for the last 4 weeks , cancellations mid week to Malaga, dropping the Nice flight mid season, more delays this week, cock and bull stories about "tech" aircraft (of which one side of the organisation tells a different story to the other)
Hugh Lang deserves a medal the size of a bin lid just for continuing with the place.

Well when the delays started was when CDKD (736) went tech requiring an engine change, then GLA and EDI were sending aircraft to cover flights from here, of course that could only be done when them bases had spare aircraft.

Then CDRB? got bashed in JER putting a hole in the side of it which meant both of our 736's out of action. GLA base covered some flights and a 736 was sent to MME, of course leaving EDI short by 1 so they needed some flights covering too I guess.

Just happened all together, at the wrong time for Flyg!

"Hugh Lang deserves a medal the size of a bin lid just for continuing with the place".

The only bin lid Hugh and his cronies need is one dropping on his head as he and they get binned and dispatched.
What really have they done recently, yes you can say Wizz and Globespan but other than that nothing just repetative hot air about new this and that.

Could someone else do better, or is the main problem lack of investment in routes.

Is Ryanair continuing Gerona for the winter?

Was on that flight last weekend and it seemed pretty full; doesn't seem like a winter destination though...

I'm borrowing someone elses phrase here, which they use to describe Hugh Lang, and perhaps even more so Kerry Quinn, although it probably applies to more than just those two, but, "You pay peanuts and you get Monkey's".

From The Journal today

NEW parking measures came into effect at Teesside Airport yesterday
Maybe they've been reading the road signs.

Come on DTV thats a bit out of order referring to named individuals like that
I actually feel quite sorry sometimes for the management at the Airport who try in the face of all adversity to put a brave spin on things.I would remind people that HL was boss at the airport BEFORE Peel came along , and things have turned T*ts up since that company took over.I have rambled on before about Peels hidden agenda which I am convinced is ultimately to close the place and build an industrial village or a housing estate on what for them is "bargain basement " land.
Incidentally I was on the Globespan on Monday and the story spun by the Captain differs slightly from the various tales appearing on here. He seems to be suggesting that there are no Teesside based aircraft now.And 160 p off passengers per flight who wont "ever fly with Globespan again" doesn't bode well for next years business.
