Seeing is believing as they say, and I've yet to see any of the supposed Jet2 flights operating from MME as reported in the final paras other than the odd LBA diversion or crew training.
I'll take the rest of the content with a large pinch of the usual salt thanks!!

I look forward to seeing the article which asks why, out of 40 meetings (assuming there was actually that many and it's not a lie), not one new route, or any other form of aviation-related business, materialised...oh, wait, there won't be such an article and DTV/Peel will get away with making false statements once again.

No sooner had I eluded to the quality of the press releases then 'hey presto!':-
"DURHAM Tees Valley Airport (DTVA) claimed it was on track to boost passenger numbers to 3m by 2015 as it launched a charm offensive to lure more airlines to the region..."
Took this extract out of what has already clearly been questioned by other posters as a complete load of b****cks, as a clear illustration as to the absolute dribble that is emanating from the Peel PR machine. I'd like to know as to what amount of "charm" is required to increase 750k pax 400% to 3 Million by 2015, perhaps the girls are going to extend activities to include lap dancing?

Good news about new Jet2 flights...
Flights, what flights ? or have you simply become another unfortunate victim of the Teesside/MME/DTV(A) PR machine ?

I'd like to know how old the original article that states 'from 750k to 3m' is now as this year the airport will struggle to break the 700k and I'm putting my money on it being nearer the 650k. Maybe Peels PR machine is trying to include the rabbits on the airfield in the pax figures, as 750k as a figure must of been picked by the Mad Hatter and March Hare themselves!!!!

RE; the comment about JET2 operating from DTVA why do you presume that the statement was made by PEEL could it be that the journo got it wrong!

Also the same people that moan about the lack of developments at MME now moan that they are meeting with airlines! Some of the people on this thread defy belief

Right firstly I can't see many moans, fair few comments & justifiably so. Lets face it if Peel want to talk to say JET2 / GSM / RYR or any one else remotely likely to want to operate out of MME then they only have to tavel "down the road" & the presumption that IF theses airlines have reps that have travelled half way accross the world on a junket then the last airfield that they will be seeking out is MME as reciprocally they can talk to them any day.
Secondly why should the journo have got it wrong ?
And you presumably are comfortable that the DTV management are doing a good job?

Crisis what crisis?

Tuesday 7/10/08 entered airport at 14.00hrs exactly according to parking ticket.Parked.Walked 50yards to check in.Checked in efficiently and pleasantly.Walked through security, no waiting and pleasant hello how are you ?. Walked airside and checked watch 1412hrs. Amazing.(Only let down was the ignorant barmaid who made it obvious that she did not want to be there by having a huge fan on a tripod aimed at her from the public side of the bar.It was like being in training to be a wing walker.) If only every airport was as efficient as this.
Ah! slight problem though as there will be no flights to take next year.

So with flyglobespan changing the schedules, no Alicante flights after 16 November, Malaga once a week and Tenerife once a week on 'w' patterns, is the base closed from the end of October? Is that the end for good for GSM at MME?

Yep, at the very least it looks as if the base is gone for good, the best we can hope for now for summer 2009 is more W's like the winter will be, but I won't even hold my breath for that.
