peacock1->Aer Lingus were using the airbridge before it went out of operation and the fact I haven't seen any charter carriers using it, along with the cones at the bottom, suggests to me that it's still out of operation rather than a case of Aer Lingus choosing not to use it.
What confused me the other day was the fact that they used the boarding procedure for the airbridge (Rows 15-29 first) rather than the one for steps front and back (first come first served) even though there were steps at either end of the aircraft.

I wonder if they are waiting for some specialist parts for the air-bridge? It would seem to be a highly unusual situation for the floor of the thing to collapse, so it might be that parts which are not usually required to be replace ever need to be installed. There could be a significant lead time on this? I cant imagine there are too many stocks of air-bridge parts in Ireland, or even the UK?
The other thought I had is that the contractors who installed it are delaying paying for the fix, you know what builders are like to come back and fix anything!

Airbridge
I'm told it's ready to be used but is awaiting some paper work to be completed.
Probably not a priority for management. They're indifferent to purchasing airbridges because airlines are unwilling to use them at all while others will only use them if there's no extra charge.
In any event they're probably too busy trying to replace Easyjet., CSA, Malev and Centralwings.

Is there any sign of any airlines sniffing around?
I suppose times are a bit tight at the minute which is not helping. Best bet might be AirFrance/CityJet? I don't think easyJet will be coming back in a hurry. Not too many other likely airlines really, is there?

Brian, with AFR/BCY just after launching services from Shannon I would not be expecting them to go starting services to Cork anytime soon
Speaking of which their adding an extra flight on Saturdays and Sundays now.....thrice daily weekends

City Jet CDG-ORK
Starting a Cork service wouldn't really dilute their yields on SNN-CDG as its probably serving a local catchment area.
Of course they'd have to go head to head with Aerlingus on ORK-CDG and unlike Shannon, Cork wouldn't throw hello money at them.

And what market would they be filling? Or is just the usual greed for whatever routes are going?
Routes have been lost to Poland and Budapest most importantly- If the CAA were doing things at all right they'd be focusing on finding a new operator for those, not going around looking for cityjet to fly an already established route, same goes for a replacment for Easyjet. It aint gonna happen.

I was under the impression that WX made noises, not about the CDG route but the LCY route. I don't see CDG to be honest with the EI relationship on the route, codeshare to AMS and the WX SNN service I don't think this would be seen as too attractive for AF or WX.
With oil being as expensive as it is any routes from ORK will need to be guaranteed money makers. There cant be much low hanging fruit left, I would think, sad as it may be. Could anyone make money on an ORK-Scandinavia route?

Fivejuillet Cork-CDG was never mentioned until you brought it up.
On another note the Air Southwest services restarted this week. Newquay is to continue to be summer only but Plymouth is going to be year round.

Anyway this is getting off topic. Cityjet aren't going to launch a service to CDG because they wouldn't get any incentives to do so. They have expressed an interest in Cork-LCY and that is what Brian was referring to in the first place.

I'm not sure why they want to wait untill after Cork becomes independent to start LCY as I'm reliably informed that they won't be getting anything that's not available now. EI's 5 per day LHR service is too important to Cork and the CAA won't undermine it.

I think the independence thing is just an excuse to be honest. The fact of the matter is that they don't have the aircraft available currently to expand into any new routes. Even the WX service is operated by Régional with ERJ-145's on behalf of Air France by Cityjet and I dont think any firm date has been set for WX equipment to take over the route, at least not for the summer time-table.

Quite a few pax connecting through SNN from CDG courtesy of the AF/DL codeshare. 16 passengers on Monday flew in from CDG and connected on the DL flight from SNN to JFK.

Why didn't these 16 people simply fly direct from CDG - JFK/NYC?
Are direct (last minute) flights really so expensive that CDG - JFK via SNN is cheaper or something?
