^^ I remember there being a lot in the media about two years ago when they pulled out because MAN refused to drop their fees.
This article discusses it, although I now notice it doesn't actually state there was a base there

Long haul from LJLA will be anounced soon airline name begins with (A) if you dont believe me just wait the two points will happen
I like to see you sweat when it happens bye bye
Its because its bull rapidman47.
Longhaul has been comming to LPL for how long now?
You said easyjet wasnt happy, yet added aircraft at the time (if that was them being unhappy, Id love to see happy)
Youve been right on zilch so far, and by not naming names,
Its all hot air.
The reason I deleated my post on the other forum is so that you cant carry on with your sorry little game bye bye
I love your hot air rapidman47
I suppose Aer Lingus might connect a small turboprop to their long haul out of Ireland!? That's about all LPL will get, ever.
Longhaul from Liverpool Rapidman?, come on give us a clue??.....enlighten us all, spill the beans,
Does that mean BLackpol has long haul and not liverpool as you can book Blk to new york with change in dublin but it can be done all on one ticket!!
He might be getting a little confused - Guernsey by Aurigny isn't longhaul...lol
Didn't Gobspan try LPL-JFK? What a disaster that was...via NOC if I remember correctly, average passenger load reported to be about 20 when a mate of mine decided to try it.
I seem to remember a GSM lpl to new york flight being cancelled due to only 16 seats being sold?

An airline beginning with A, could it be Astraeus on behalf of some other airline. Cant see American Airlines being interested in LPL, though I could see Continental with 757 being option.
What sort of money would people put on LPL attracting AA or CO? I would put money on them never attracting either of them.

Bless old Rapidman, ever the optimist.
I suspect he's been caught up in the Air Asia X speculation that they're going to fly to every backwater with their A330s.
I've news for you Rapido; after the haemmoraging of the Stansted route, Tony has learned an expensive lesson - the traditional loco model doesnt work long haul into far flung secondary airports. Gatwick is an indicator of how his route planning and strategy has changed.
There is room for both LPL and MAN to be successful. However, the constant griping and petty rivalry penned by you and others on this and the MAN thread are tiresome and immature in extremis.
Rgds

LJLA already have a good long haul service courtesy of KLM.
From the pool KLM will take you to any corner of the globe you want to go.....
I doubt there'll ever be a widebody long haul pax service direct, but a '777 or '330 wouldn't find the runway too much of a challenge on a 7 hour flight.

Liverpool Airport car parking - how much?! £31.50 for one overnight stay, which is about £31 more than it's actually worth. Given it's in the depths of the long-stay car park and no doubt will involve 30 minutes of circling the car park until actually finding a space.
Not least is the £2.50 booking fee sneaked in at the last minute, especially since their website encourages you to book online to avoid the telephone booking charge!
One wonders how Peel is losing money hand over foot from Liverpool when the car park costs more than the flights?
Rant over - would have used public transport but sad lack of buses to my neck of the woods at the time I get back.

ATC
Right, this is probably the most appropriate topic to put this post in so here it goes.
I have been looking at applying for jobs within the airport environment and I have tried numerous times at MAN contacting handling agencies and airlines but only one airline and one agency replied saying no vacancies were available too. I also applied for the ATSA role a month ago but so did over 260 more. Having recently graduated from University with a degree in Computing, my main aim is to go through NATS and become an Air Traffic Controller although this is obviously on hold until they reopen in Oct/Nov so I can apply for my stage 1 test.
My main question is, I would like to try and contact ATC or Airfield Ops at LPL regarding recruitment for the post of ATSA (or any similar occupation at the airport). I do have the contact number for the tower that is on the LPL textual data. Having emailed HR yesterday regarding this matter, I got an (obviously copy and pasted) response saying 'thank you for registering your interest in the Airfield Bird Control Job Vacancy - please send your application form to this address'.
A job in such an airport environment I believe would be most helpful and sorry for the long (and most likely boring) post but any information or advice is most appreciated.
EDIT: By no means does the fact NATS are starting again in autumn mean I would only want to work very short term, the process takes a very long time to get through. Working within the airport environment would be a great starting point.

I know that posting negative news about LPL doesn't happen on here often even when there is some. So for the benefit of you who like to keep up to date and see the bigger picture, this is from UK Airport News a few days ago
Eastern Airways has pulled out of Liverpool Airport after axing Aberdeen and Southampton links it launched two years ago. Airport spokesman Robin Tudor said the route's demise is part of a general consolidation by airlines facing tough economic conditions.
The airline operated a total of 20 flights a week on the two routes. Mr Tudor said said he believes the Aberdeen route still has potential due to its links with the oil and gas industry, and could be picked up by another airline. However, flights to Aberdeen are operated from local rival Manchester.
