LIVERPOOL - 2
Jet2
On the Jet2 thread about them 'possibly' basing up to 4 a/c at LPL next summer.
Leaving it a little late if true, what with it being nearly January. Stranger things have happened...

Any news on any future projects? Came back from Malaga with EZY on Friday 30th Dec at 2.30PM. Landed after a FR flight from Dublin and before a EZY flight from Palma. Immigration had 4 desks open and still a nightmare. Luggage took nearly 30mins coming through and then a queue to get out of baggage reclaim area. Check-in and security a breeze, shopping areas and departure lounge outdated and gate areas the same. But arrivals I find is always a nightmare, maybe just my luck but the past 5 times I have landed here various times from afternoon to early hours of morning, immigration compared to many other UK and European airports is appaling. As security area has dramicatally improved, can't improvements be made to other areas too? I really like Liverpool airport, but I always find myself searching for flights from MAN first even if it is more expensive, I know with T1 and T2 (sometimes T3) your going to get into the country and out of the airport quicker and easier.

It is actually a replacement of the Liverpool - Girona route, so not a "new" service , as such. Just flying to the main airport in that city and not one near.

Ok so do any of you LPL supporters out there have any - reliable - news on anything that might be in the pipeline? With Eastern gone, KLM going and Easy and Ryanair both fairly static the place seems to be a bit in the doldrums, if not declining. Anything going on?
Easyjet capacity to drop by 10% for winter 2012 using only 7 aircraft. Apparently very 'unlikely' this number will return to 9 for summer 2013 due to contractual disputes. Very bad news and not a good sign for the future. Liverpool getting too big for its boots or easyJet trying to force costs down in an airport where they have a big chunk of the business?
Eitherway surely passenger numbers are reaching a peak now and it'll be down hill from here for a while.

It cant be just a coincidence that both easyjet and now Ryanair are developing their services from MAN, whilst their LPL operations seem to be stagnant/seeing some cuts.
Not exactly great for an airport which relies on just two airlines for the vast majority of their passenger business.

Is it 2 or 3 EZY A319 moving from LPL to MAN soon?
I wonder if Vantage will be prepared to lower their fees to Easyjet, or will there be more emphasis on MAN in the future?

MAN is the way forward as far as EZY, expect more in the next 12 months, sorry LPL, unless things change it's going to be a very small base soon...

I wouldn't say it's going to be a small base. The optimum number of aircraft for making a profit at the base at the moment is 7. There will be no additional aircraft coming in and no more leaving the base and to be honest I wouldn't be so sure about MAN becoming this super base you may think it will be.

Think you may find 8 Easyjet A/C not 7.
